Prayer Requests 11-19-16

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 50:1-6

The Mighty One, God, the Lord,
    speaks and summons the earth
from the rising of the sun to where it sets.
From Zion, perfect in beauty,
    God shines forth.
Our God comes
    and will not be silent;
a fire devours before him,
and around him a tempest rages.
He summons the heavens above,
and the earth, that he may judge his people:
“Gather to me this consecrated people,
who made a covenant with me by sacrifice.”
And the heavens proclaim his righteousness,
for he is a God of justice.

  1. More on our conversation from yesterday:

Cheryl – I kind of got off-track in what I was writing in response to your comment. To go back to what I had written in my prayer request, I stand by my prayer for God to turn YF’s compassion for the LGBT folks to be a truly Christian compassion to see them saved & delivered. As I said, I can imagine her one day turning her efforts from trying to prove to them that God approves of their sin to ministering to them to help them find salvation & healing in Jesus. (For her, this isn’t only a matter of her personal belief that may or may not affect her salvation, but she is actively trying to convince others that the Bible does not condemn homosexuality, that those verses have been misinterpreted by those horrible hateful conservative Christians.)

I’ve seen things in some non-believers that I’ve often thought that God would turn into a ministry for that person if they were saved. (I don’t mean ministry necessarily in the form of a formal program, but in the sense of the kind of ministry we do as believers in our daily lives.)

One of those was the lady that drove the van that picked up my MIL for her adult day care. Anne had a special touch with the elderly (the director of the day care said this herself), & I could imagine her using that special touch as a believer one day, perhaps in a nursing home ministry, or maybe merely to the seniors in her own life.

So that is where I was “coming from” in that comment of mine.

  2. Janice – The pediatric group that said that transitioning children is harmful was a small conservative group of pediatricians, & has been lambasted as bigoted & hateful. 😦

  3. Well, since I’m doing all the “talking” here so far, let me remind y’all that this is the weekend that Mr X said he would get to see his son. (Still not allowed.) We are on “high alert” here. Prayers for safety for everyone are appreciated. God bless!

  4. Heavenly Father, I thank You for bringing us safely through the election. I pray for acceptance of the results by those who are still fuming. Please help people to set aside differences long enough to find pleasure in family gatherings. Please keep travelers safe and healthy. I pray no acts of terrorism will threaten busy venues season.

Lord, I do pray for those young people mentioned especially by Kizzie, Mumsee, and Kim. I pray for their hearts to open to the true gospel in the Bible. May the shutters of political correctness be lifted in any areas in which they have been blinded to truth. A little light in their darkness, in their justification of calling wrong right, in their prideful rebellion is what I am calling out to You to provide. Please hear the many prayers lifted to You to pull them out of the more and save them for all eternity. I pray against the evil that tried daily to push them lower and sink them. You are their only hope. Please, again I ask for these particular ones today. You are able to start them on a new path. Please give patience and endurance to all who love and care for them. In Jesus’ name, Amen

  5. Thank God for the woman dropping her son off at day care who was able to save the toddler who was hanged by the woman there. He is doing fine, apparently. The woman fled and had an accident and is now hospitalized. Not sure if it was drugs, psychosis or what. Lots of hearts hurting and with decisions to make about daycare again.

  6. Kizzie, that makes sense. I think the deeper issue (not arguing with you, just giving my own perspective) is her relationship with God. There is no way of knowing what God might do with her if he chooses to save her–simply because what she has now are her natural gifts, not spiritual gifts.

One of my friends regularly says things like “Oh, God could use that man so greatly if he became a Christian! He’s such a people person” or “He’s so gifted at such and such.” God can and does use our natural gifts and experiences–look at Saul of Tarsus’s education, for example. But I also know people whom God uses in ways that would seem completely contrary to their natural gifting–the man with cerebral palsy and almost intelligible speech who is now an evangelist, for example. God uses people who have no visible natural gifts, and often He chooses the people others have overlooked as being of little value.

  7. Haven’t heard, Kizzie, what happened with that day care deal. I pray she finds a good daycare for her son. At least, he is old enough to speak about his day.

  8. Kathaleena – Are you referring to him sometimes going to the daycare next door for a little while in the morning when Nightingale works first shift? That has gone well. He was nervous at first, but he knows the other kids there, so that helped. It’s only a couple times a week, sometimes three, depending on Nightingale’s schedule. (Next week she is working four evening shifts (3 – 11), with no day shifts.)

This is just for when she needs someone to get him on the bus in the morning, which I don’t want the responsibility for. Other than that, we babysit.
