Prayer Requests 10-1-16

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 6

¹O Lord, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.

Have mercy upon me, O Lord; for I am weak: O Lord, heal me; for my bones are vexed.

My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O Lord, how long?

Return, O Lord, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies’ sake.

For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks?

I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears.

Mine eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all mine enemies.

Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the Lord hath heard the voice of my weeping.

The Lord hath heard my supplication; the Lord will receive my prayer.

10 Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return and be ashamed suddenly.

  1. Thanks for prayers yesterday for my daughter. She applied for the job she was asked to, remains waiting on grad school app (will know the answer the end of this month for Jan start) and when I asked what she will do if both come through, she said, “I’m taking this one day at a time and we’ll see.”

    Right answer. 🙂

  2. Seventeen year old who arrived here at seven, too scared of stuff to ride the jetboat cruise of the Hells Canyon tour with his class, is taking flying lessons. He may go up the first time today. Prayer for wisdom on his part and that of the instructor.

Prayer for me and my leg, which seems like such a minor thing relative to what husband is going through, but since he is, it is valuable for me to not be laid up. Though he has been doing my chores for me and exercise is good for him. He and the youngest have it covered.

  3. Thanks for the prayers, Carol’s better, they gave her a potassium pill (I thought that’s what was wrong) and her blood pressure is back up to more normal range & she feels better.

I met Carol some years ago through a Christian friend from Bible study. Carol had called my friend’s church (Lutheran which was what my friend was and what Carol had grown up in) asking for help after she’d landed in a heap of legal trouble (she’d stolen some money from the company she worked for). She’d come out from NY with her employer, who was pretty upset (understandably) and pressed the matter legally, so Carol wound up in county jail for maybe 60 days, I think, which when she called the church for help.

After she got out, she stayed with one of the church elder’s families and then wound up in a women’s group home for former county inmates just a couple blocks from where I lived at the time. She needed some Christian connections, so my friend asked if I could help out and I was able to take her to a Saturday night church service near us (I didn’t take her to Sunday services with me as I was in the choir at the time and it was pretty complicated, schedule-wise).

Anyway, it was probably a year or so later when she was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia which explained a lot of her prior and current behavioral troubles. The friend who brought us together died some years ago and others have come and gone, but we’ve stayed connected.
