    You realize we were joshing don’t you?
    I looked it up in my Bible and instead of migrating, I saw in Revelation 21:5 “Behold. I make all things new”. God is going to start over. This time without interference of Satan.
    I think I’ll just stay here.

  5. Besides, it was so much trouble moving from Hendersonville to Greensboro. Same state.
    I wouldn’t have a chance getting a driver’s license on Mars. Nor dealing with TV/internet providers.
    Can you imagine the mess?

    I have been awake since 2 am so i watched NASA”s Unexplained Files so i can clog up today’s discussion with the idea that Earth has a twin in the same ratation around the sun but we never see it because the sun blocks it.
    I can also tell you the latest theory in why the Hindenburg caught fire.
    It’s going to be a long day.

  8. Kizzie, I remember my great aunt having cataract surgery when it was a very new procedure – probably in the early 1960s. She had to stay in the hospital, in bed, in a dark room, for a week. And I remember everyone marveling at the results.

    Yes, they had to stay in a dark room for a long time. I forgot the details.
    If they really believed in a twin Earth, they would set about to discover it. They can do it now.

  10. Slept 6 hours, woke at 3:30 and forced myself to stay in bed until almost 5. After yesterday’s successes, I’m thankful but a bit amazed I didn’t sleep a fuller night.

    And I have a business dinner tonight, late, in which I have to play the part of the doting and charming business wife.

    God will have to see me through that one. Maybe I’ll find someone interesting to sit next to?

  13. Chas, I think by the end of the show they had decided that Earth didn’t have a twin in orbit. It was an idea from a discovery in another galaxy that two planets are on the same orbit. It is amazing to me what they are able to see with telescopes.

    Michelle, there is something about “meticulous research” that is a mouthful for a tagline. I like the second part about hope-filled stories. As far as a logo Hope is often represented by an anchor which coincidentally fits in with you being Navy Wife. Perhaps a book with an anchor on the cover?

    Now off to solve my own problems.

    OH? If you were in the market for a new to you vehicle what would you buy? There is an adorable little Mazda Miata 5 speed manual transmission that fits in my budget but I have also driven an SUV for the last 10 years so I don’t know how I am going to feel so low to the ground.

  18. I overslept (or rather woke up when I normally do, but today I need to leave early). Getting the cracked windshield replaced today and they’re coming to me at work. So I need to be there if they come on the early side of that appointment.

    I dreamed I bought a restaurant (a ribs joint) and realized I had no idea about how to run a restaurant.

    Elon Musk is now accepting large donations for those wishing to contribute to the Mars migration.

  20. I couldn’t readjust to a small car after driving the Jeep for the past 8 years (even though I drove VWs all my life before that). Plus, where would the dogs ride?

  25. We have a close friend who also got cataract surgery yesterday. His wife noted that her mother got it about 40 or so years ago and had to have her head held completely still while laying on her back. So many medical procedures and situations are so much better today. It is sad that too often we only hear about how greedy the medical personal are or when medications fail. I know I am grateful for all the progress in the medical field.

  26. Black moon, I think you might see that you can’t see. Or if there is some reflection from Earth, you might see. I just watch the moon in the early morning before the sun is up and there is a small sliver of sunlight on the edge and the moon is visible in shadow. What it will be like tomorrow, I don’t know.

It used to be that cataracts were removed (which involves removing the lens of the eye, which is clouded by the cataract), but nothing was implanted, so people had to wear those old “coke bottle” glasses. These days they implant a lens. There are some that can completely take the place of glasses, but those are very expensive, & not covered by insurance. Mine will give me better distance vision, but I’ll still probably need glasses, just a lower prescription than I’ve had. Some people only need reading glasses afterword.

    My doctor said the cataract she removed yesterday was exceptionally dense. No wonder I couldn’t see anything clearly from that eye. Today, things are so much brighter! (Considering my eyes are highly light-sensitive, that is a mixed blessing.) I notice (by covering each eye separately) that I see colors slightly brighter & deeper, too.

    What is amazing me is how much more I’m seeing things in 3-D. Of course, I’ve always seen in 3-D, but apparently my depth perception was greatly affected by that cataract, because things seem to “pop out” at me now. Pretty neat!

  29. Kathaleena – Your comment reminds me of something that I’ve seen several times on Facebook which says that the pharmaceutical companies (“Big Pharma”) manufacture patients, not cures. But I know there are many, many people who have a better quality of life thanks to some of those drugs.

  32. My sister in law and daughter in law both had Miatas. Sis in law still has hers but dil does not. They enjoyed them. But they were driven on highways or freeways.

  33. It’s a rainy and cold day. I’m in my attic, since there aren’t any classes today. Plenty of home work, but one can’t always be studying.
    It’s nice to see some praise for the medical field. Quite a few of my relatives are highly skeptical when it comes to medicine, and I have to endure seeing their links to posts that claim to shred the medical profession and to see their cynical comments underneath. I remain silent for the most part. One can’t always be fighting battles and I have so little time these days. However, it still hurts. I know a lot about the failings of the healthcare field – I’ve seen them firsthand – but I also care deeply enough about caring for those in physical difficulties to place my future on the line trying to study and practice healthcare. It is like a slap in the face every time I see those superficial and often virulent criticisms from those I know and love.

  38. I have fall fever today. The windows are open with a chilly breeze blowing in. Miss Bosley’s company is greatly appreciated. Someone stopped by from Art’s church brought us some soup and cheese to sprinkle over it with some brownies made with black beans. All very healthy and satisfying.

  39. Windshield replaced (he even was able to put the toll lane transponder back on with the velcro strips they need to attach to the glass, guess they have those available as part of their job). Got the wipers replaced, too, they were smearing and skipping. Not that we ever get any rain … It’s mid 80s here today, still very toasty, but better than the 100-plus degrees from a few days ago.

    But I have new wipers and still have an umbrella I cart around in the car. Just in case.

  40. I have a Subaru Outback and I love it – room for the dog too. I really like my Jeep Grand Cherokee, but the Subaru gets much better mileage. You do feel a little lower to the ground in it though not as low as a car.

  41. I like feeling above everyone else (in traffic).. 🙂 The Jeep Liberty is a relatively small SUB, but they are tall.

    Today’s story I’m working on has to do with the Piasecki-produced HUP-2 helicopters made for the navy in the early 1950s. Chas probably knows about those.

    The Iowa is trying to get one of only 2 that remain from the Korean War to restore for a permanent on-deck exhibit.

  42. The Subaru Legacy (89) was totaled by eighteen year old. Seventeen has not taken it to the car disposal place yet. It was our good get around car. Now we have the twelve passenger van and the big truck. Fortunately, seventeen year old gave back the Ford Ranger.

  47. Actually the black moon refers to the second new moon in the same month. I didn’t know that until I went Googling. We had a new moon at the beginning of September, and we have another one tonight.

    Same idea as the blue moon, when two full moons happen in the same month.

  50. I have always enjoyed driving smaller card. I guess just having one child and a small family makes that feasible. I can not imagine ever wanting an SUV. I was never a “soccer mom.”

  52. As Kevin says, I have always heard that the second FULL moon in a month was a “Blue Moon””. Hence, the saying, “Once in a blue moon”. I have never heard of a black moon in all my short life.

So along with Korean War helicopters today, I’m writing about a county election spat (ongoing, this being just the latest chapter) and interviewing former female employees at our local Trump golf course & restaurant. Oh, and going over unearthed city emails regarding coyotes and mishaps in a trapping program (not pretty).

    All this a new windshield, too.

    Very busy & productive day. 🙂

  54. Finally got home at 8 p.m.

    Tired.

    And I found a couple huge boxes on my front porch, probably the pedestal sink in 2 pieces. I’ll have to haul those inside and find a place for them until the bathroom work is ready to start. Place is looking really horrible right about now.
