Prayer Requests 8-30-16

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 127

¹Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

  1. BG is ignoring me and will not return a text. I really wanted her to do something with me this afternoon and she has refused. I have asked her and asked her to do other things with me but she finds an excuse. I understand this is the way she should pull away from me but I wish it were under happier circumstances.

  2. Fifteen year old boy asked me for school supplies this morning as he was heading out to the bus. I told him no. He has been given over two weeks and over one hundred dollars to get his school supplies and pay his fees. He opted to work at a place we had forbidden him to enter until he turned sixteen. Consequences. Prayer that the school would understand what we are trying to accomplish with this boy and not undermine our efforts. Everybody is nice and trying to help. For the past month, the business we told him not to go to has been providing him with their credit to buy whatever he wanted to eat at the store every day, seven days a week. We provide three meals a day and plenty of snacks. Not once did he come home for food. That is not helping the boy, it is proving to him that he does not need parents.

  3. Kim – I don’t know if it’s too late for this suggestion, but. . .Could you ask her Nana (that’s what she calls your ex-mother-in-law, right?) to have a word with BG about it?

Continued prayers for my attitude, please. I took a break from all the big household projects I’ve been occupied with since Friday, after I posted my 12:13 above, thinking I was too laser-focused on it and out of balance with the rest of my life. The break helped for a few hours, but I’ve been on the edge of snapping most of the day, anyway.

Different request, but as long as I’m here…

Financial stress is mounting. The bills are starting to come for all the clinic visits our family has had throughout July and August, and it’s expensive, especially things like the EKG and echocardiogram. And the cardiologist consult alone was around $600.

We’ll find a way to pay it, but there’s a much bigger problem looming on another front. Our septic system is on its last leg. It just can’t keep up anymore, with all the laundry and showers and such over the years with a big family and a small drain field. That’s going to be $15,000 to $20,000 to redo in a different place on our property. And just getting someone out here to do preliminary assessments to get permits and such for the work is going to cost an additional $1,300! Just to get the ball rolling and not even do any of the actual work on the septic.

Hubby and I are both overwhelmed with how many things seem to be going wrong at once.

God, of course, has everything all worked out, and He’ll work it for our good. But I lose track of that some days.

Thus the prayer request for my attitude.

  5. Prayer for my friend Carol, she learned today that her boyfriend, whom she hadn’t talked to in some time following his hospitalization probably 2-3 months ago now, passed away this week. His brother tried to text Carol but she’s been in between cell phones and didn’t get it, only just got her new phone today and found out. He had numerous physical complications due to diabetes, so things just finally gave out — and was probably close to 80 but didn’t look or act it, he was really a very nice guy; Latino, raised (very) Catholic, she thinks he was a believer. She’s feeling a bit shocked & very sad, of course.

  6. Thank you, all.

And prayers for all the above situations and people. So sorry, DJ, about Carol’s loss of her boyfriend.
