Prayer Requests 8-18-16

It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.

Anyone else?

Psalm 116

¹I love the Lord, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications.

Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.

The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell got hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.

Then called I upon the name of the Lord; O Lord, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.

Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.

The Lord preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me.

Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee.

For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.

I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living.

10 I believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted:

11 I said in my haste, All men are liars.

12 What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits toward me?

13 I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord.

14 I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all his people.

15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.

16 O Lord, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.

17 I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the Lord.

18 I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all his people.

19 In the courts of the Lord‘s house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye the Lord.

  1. I always appreciate prayers for my Friday. Met with the principal yesterday and got a lot of good information about one of my students. I listened and asked questions about a couple of other students. I was good!

  2. Two updates and a request:

Dad’s home from the hospital! Thanks for the prayers. We went to visit him and Mom at home today, and all my sibs (except East Coast sister) were there, too. It was good to be together.

Second update: (re 3rd Arrow’s wisdom teeth extraction a week ago.) None of her teeth were impacted, so the surgery was uncomplicated and her overall recovery went pretty well.

Do you remember my telling you she has a history of fainting, and that I was concerned that I may not be able to catch her if she fell? Well, if you prayed about that, thank you. She did faint, mere minutes after arriving at the clinic, but I was standing at the front desk with her, and managed to catch her. We both ended up on the waiting room floor, but I caught her early in the fall and controlled her landing (and mine) somewhat, that neither of us got hurt. She came to within a couple minutes and did fine in surgery about an hour later. A real relief after how the morning started.

My prayer request is for 4th Arrow (15-year-old daughter), who’s been struggling with health issues the last month and a half (though there has been considerable improvement since starting Lyme’s treatment). A strange and troubling physical episode occurred with daughter this afternoon, however, coming on quickly and lasting about an hour while we were at my brother’s house (next to my parents’) waiting for my dad to get home from the hospital.

4th Arrow will see the doctor tomorrow afternoon to further investigate. Please pray she won’t have a recurrence or anything else new in the meanwhile. Thank you much.

  3. You know, while I was driving home tonight from my parents’, I praised God that, though this has been another pretty difficult week, none of the aforementioned events all happened at the same time. 3rd Arrow required a lot of care the first couple days after her surgery late last week (and she is my right-hand helper around here, so I had more duties I was assuming at the same time), but she was completely recovered and back to her normal self by the time I heard the news yesterday that Dad had been hospitalized.

And now he is home, and 4th Arrow’s medical issues are needing attention. The thought occurred to me that, instead of complaining that it’s been one thing after another on the medical front, I can praise God that’s it’s been one thing after another instead of all of this simultaneously.

Every cloud has a silver lining is so cliche, but I will say God is always merciful in what He ordains, and I can and will praise Him.

    Thanks be to God.

  4. The physical therapist felt that she might be able to help me. Such good news. I will call to make an appointment. And nice that kinder is only going until noon right now so that I can fit into her schedule.
Same here with one thing after another. It all seems simple, but stores are only open on weekdays until 4, maybe 5. So not many options for getting things taken care of.
