Prayer Requests 8-4-16

It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.

Anyone else?

Psalm 101

¹I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O Lord, will I sing.

I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.

I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.

A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person.

Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath a high look and a proud heart will not I suffer.

Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me.

He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.

I will early destroy all the wicked of the land; that I may cut off all wicked doers from the city of the Lord.

  1. 1st Daughter & Little Guy are spending some time with Boyfriend today. Boyfriend seems like a great guy, a very caring man, & considers this a “serious relationship” (& I think he’s thinking about marriage).

My prayer is that if Boyfriend is not the man God wants for her, if he would be a hindrance to her spiritually, then God would cause their feelings for each other to fade away, or they would discover something about themselves that make them incompatible.

(I have already advised 1st Dtr to have a conversation with him about his thoughts on child-rearing & discipline & the like.)

  2. Just learned that R is in court today. On Facebook (he posting public posts again), he’s claiming that he’s going to make Swiss cheese of the prosecution’s case.

Oh, Lord, please bring this young man to repentance!

  3. Or put him in jail where he can’t hurt anyone.

They also need to discuss finances, BF ever want to adopt Little Guy? Does he want children of his own? Would this affect they way he would feel about Little Guy? There are a whole slew of issues to be considered.

  4. The primary cause of physical damage to children appears to be step parents. That does not mean all step parents are bad, just that one should be aware and cautious. Can somebody adopt a stepchild if the other parent has not given up custody?

  5. That issue (abusive step-parents) is something 1st Daughter & I have discussed. Believe me, she is being very careful, not ready to jump into anything too serious too soon. She really did learn her lesson from what she went through with R, & has read a lot on various related subjects.

No, I don’t think a child can be adopted if the parent has not relinquished their rights, unless the court does it for them.

  6. Mumsee, it’s not actually stepparents (and I would have stepped in to say this even before I was a stepparent) but live-in boyfriends. Stepparents are ahead of bio parents in terms of abuse (at least sexual abuse, and I would think maybe other forms of abuse, too), but then, foster parents and possibly adoptive parents lead bio parents in terms of (sexual) abuse. But the real culprit is live-in boyfriends, who have made no commitment to the family and are inconvenienced by the presence of a child.

  7. Prayers for protection appreciated, primarily for 1st Daughter & Little Guy, but for the rest of us as well.

DCF lady called 1st Dtr to tell her that R knew she was over our house the other day. The only way he could know that is if he were watching. (How DCF lady knows he knows, we don’t know. My guess is he called to make some allegation & mentioned it. But she will be back for another visit next Wednesday.) There are two apartment houses next to our backyard that he could have been parking in, possibly.

DCF lady also warned us not to let Little Guy play outside alone at all.

  8. My mom ended up at Urgent Care today. She’s had stomach upset the last two nights, and threw up once each night. It was green, and she was concerned about possible gall bladder issues. That turned out fine, but she is low in iron.

She’s also exhibiting some confusion, which could simply be age-related, but may also be due to the iron deficiency or anemia or whatever. Couldn’t find her car keys when checking out at Wal-Mart today. Retraced her steps through the store. Nothing. Called my brother to come pick her up. No one home there. Called and left another message, saying she found them in the car ignition when she’s always put them in her purse pocket.

    Thanks for prayers.

  9. Hope your mom is ok and was just distracted, 6.

    Praying for you all, Karen.

Husband and I were rear-ended by a young woman today. We were 90 miles from home. We were stopped at a red light, when suddenly a big bang and the car jerked. She had stopped at a Dairy Queen on her way to work. Don’t know what she was doing. She admitted that she thought we were going and just rammed us. She was quite distraught.

Her grandfather came. It was his vehicle. He was nice, too. Even the police was trying to calm her down. She kept crying on and off and apologizing. No one was hurt and all I could think of was all the young people I know killed in car crashes. I hugged her when we left. Just felt bad for her, too.

Yuck! Paper work and getting the car fixed was not on my to do list. 😦
