Prayer Requests 7-23-16

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 91

¹He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.

Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;

10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.

15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.

16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

  1. We are traveling later today to Wyoming. I’m still having severe stomach issues…I’ve seen a gastroenterologist and my stool samples came back normal…so I have to have a colonoscopy as soon as we return….we are traveling with Scott’s whole family…

  2. Praying for you, Ann — for safe travels and for resolution from the stomach problems.

    Some prayer requests…

Safe travels for my friend’s daughter (former student of mine who’s been in Europe for a week, speaking at a conference) as she returns home today.

Safe travels for my brother and his family. They are in Colorado right now and come back next week.

Prayers for my mom and dad’s health. Dad especially has trouble with his irregular heartbeat during temperature extremes, and it’s been in the 90s the past few days.

Prayers for my best friend’s father-in-law, who had a heart attack last week. Recovery isn’t going very well, and there are family disputes among his adult children about care issues.

Prayers also for another friend who was really excited about a potentially wonderful thing that was to happen this week. I don’t know, but I have the feeling that the thing she was so looking forward to did not play out as she wished. She hasn’t said anything, and I don’t feel it’s appropriate for me to ask, but I have the sense she is suffering deep discouragement. She’s dealt with depression before, too, and I’m afraid she may be in a dark place right now.

I’d appreciate prayers for wisdom to discern whether there’s anything else I should do besides pray quietly for her.

    Thank you.

  3. We got a prayer letter at 5:20 this morning from our favorite African missionary. She told these two stories/prayer requests that I think are worth mentioning:

The other day we visited a man who called in after listening to the radio program. He was thrilled to get his SD card and even more thrilled when the movie Magdalena played in his phone.

He could barely tear his eyes away from it to talk to us. Pray that we will have other opportunities to meet with this man who has studied both Christianity and Islam. While he is a practicing Muslim, he said that he has always been drawn to Christianity.

One of my friends from the neighborhood shared with me recently that her daughter has the “falling sickness” at school. This is a demonic spirit(s) that only attacks girls and only at school. We were seeing this a lot a few years ago, but only older teen girls were affected.

Now the younger girls are experiencing the same thing. As we talked, she explained that they had taken her daughter everywhere for “treatment”. She said, “No one knows what this is!” When she said this I stopped her and said, “Everyone knows what this is, but no one is brave enough to say it!” Instantly those listening agreed that I was telling the truth.

I told her that we, the missionaries, have prayed for these girls before so if she’s willing for us to pray for her to let me know. Pray that this mother will have the courage to bring her daughter to us and that God will reveal His power by protecting this young girl from demonic attack. Pray for A and her daughter A.

  4. A couple more requests I forgot to mention…

Prayers for Tatyanna (the young lady we were praying about in January, whose adoptive mom died). She went to an out-of-state youth rally with others from her church earlier this month, and while there, got very sick and needed to be in the hospital for a while. (She was able to go home with the group, though, at the planned time, thank God.) She has mono. Prayers for her recovery.

Also, a widower friend (the husband of a dear friend of mine who died five years ago) is getting married today. Please pray for the Lord’s hand of blessing on R and C as they pledge their vows and prepare to blend two families (eight children between the two of them, seven of them not yet adults) into one.

  5. Please pray for a little dog named Bubba. He belongs to my friend Jenn, the poor lady with severe health issues. She’s had Bubba about a year, & he has been such a blessing to her. She purposely got a little dog, so he could cuddle with her in her recliner (which she has to sleep in, too).

Bubba has been sick, & is in the vet hospital now. Please pray he’ll be okay. Thanks.

  6. Bubba is home, but still sick. They need to get a sample of his urine, to be tested for crystals or an infection.

Jenn’s health has been deteriorating more lately. She often gets blockages in her bladder tube, & she needs surgery for one of her conditions, but is highly reluctant to go through with it, as every time she has surgery, there are serious complications. (She refers to a serious “blood disease” that causes problems.)

And yet, with all she’s going through, she has such a sweet spirit, & writes about how much she loves her life, & how grateful she is for her loving family, who take care of her. Her husband & grown children (a son, & a daughter, who is pregnant with twins) are devoted to her. God bless her (& save her family).

  7. Since I wrote this on the “secret room” thread, I decided to share it here as a prayer request. . .

I don’t think that my dear 2nd Daughter (24 years old) will ever be able to live independently. But she is not dealing with that right now, & some of those Asperger/autistic-type of behaviors are getting worse. Living with the McKs has not been beneficial to her, spiritually nor otherwise. (Remember, one of the McK daughters is the one I’ve written about as YF, & the younger daughter, who is 2nd Daughter’s long-time best friend, is a lesbian, & activist about her views.)

Last night in the shower, I began to weep to God for her. All I could say for a while in this weeping prayer was to cry out “My baby!”

  8. Lots of prayers going up for you and yours, Karen. Your weeping is a picture of God’s tears. I think of Jesus’ admonition for the Jews to weep for themselves and their children. I remember that with one of mine and received such a comfort from the Lord. I am specifically praying you will receive such a comfort so personalized as to know it is from your Heavenly Father.

  9. Praying for comfort and reassurance from our Lord for you Karen…He loves her so very much…He knows her limitations and I am fully convinced He hears your pleas on her behalf….and I am further convinced we can trust Him…in all things…I give thanks for her life…for His entrusting you to nurture and mother her…and for His being our all knowing, loving Heavenly Father…. ❤
