  1. 🙂 We had a nice dinner out with my family for my mom’s birthday. My sister wanted to go to Hibachi Grill. We had good food and since it was a new experience for us, we enjoyed it. I, honestly, think my mom could not have cared less where we went, for the most part.

🙂 Looking forward to seeing the inside of the new home my youngest daughter and her husband bought; not to mention the four grandchildren. We are taking the youngest son home for a few days. It will be his first time staying all by himself. Looks like we should have good weather, although a little warm for me.

🙂 Music jam and pot luck is also on the agenda. This will be about half-way to the grandchild’s, so is partially the reason for the timing.

😦 Husband’s vertigo and ear sensitivity has been a problem again. Hopefully, he will not feel terrible or have to bow out of activities. There is a parade and city festival in the works for tomorrow at our daughter’s town, also. We are going to have a few busy weeks now, as we always do this time of year. We love that, but it is tiring.

    🙂 We are so blessed.

  2. Daughter appears to have maxed out on progress and we are now simply letting it be. If she does not control her aggressive behavior, we may have to look at medication.

  3. 😦 😦 😦 Need I say anything? I’ll spell it out: computer issues.

🙂 Successful mission to Nica by daughter and church friends.

🙂 Fun day yesterday away from computer–change of command, lots of friends, seeing 98 year-old friend honored, quirky movie.

    🙂 Day alone to write.

🙂 God is good, the evenings are wonderful and peaches are sweet.

  4. 🙂 Seeing the flowers in the header photo make me happy that I live where I live.
🙂 Mr. P had the neuro stimulator inserted Tuesday. He went back for wound care yesterday, but it is like he has a new lease on life.
🙂 Home improvement projects around the house today. Home Depot and Lowe’s don’t just have things I want; they have things I nnneeeeeedddd.

  5. So good to hear about the surgery aftermath looking promising, Kim. 🙂 Yay.

🙂 Finally. I got a major running start on house projects much needed. More to come, but I’m starting with the 2-3 big things.

😦 Afraid there may be a termite tent in my future. Lots of termite damage, which was no surprise. I don’t even want to think about the hassle of all of that.

🙂 Where to go for advice on exterior house colors? I’m going to ask a cousin who has a historic home he’s been restoring and good taste to boot (that matches mine). And I’ve also already been poking around websites and will talk with the paint department folks (with a photo of my house) at stores. Would love to settle definitively on a combination I love. Right now I’m torn.

🙂 After a week of very early mornings, it felt beyond good to sleep in today.

🙂 My former (retired) pastor is preaching at our church tomorrow. 🙂

🙂 Summer, not my favorite time of year in general, is going along at a very fast clip now. Fall is coming. Now if we could only, someday, get some rain. Especially now that I’ll have a new roof that won’t leak. 🙂

  6. I’m glad you are making progress, Peter. Chuck & Linda came over this morning and we hang lots of pictures. That job is done and it almost looks like a livable hpuse now.

You need to get things settled before football starts. I’ve chosen the Gamecocks and Boilermakers to go all the way and meet for the championship.

  7. 😦 Some too-early mornings for me, too, Donna, because of 1st Daughter’s schedule at the nursing home. I’m glad she doesn’t work every day, because my body just does not want to get with the program of going to sleep earlier than it’s used to.

I knew there would be more babysitting to do once school was out for the summer, but I didn’t realize she was going to be working so many hours.

😦 2nd Daughter is having trouble staying patient with Little Guy, more so than usual.

🙂 She is trying to overcome that by being more engaged with him. (But it is quite difficult for her.)

🙂 1st Daughter agreed that it is time to quit Claire’s. She has one more day there next week, but that will be it.

  8. 🙂 My son is back safe and sound from a week with his youth group in Tijuana, his third and last time to go as a high schooler. Our church has been a partner for 14 years in World Vision’s North Borders project, which has been doing community development, outreach, and child sponsorship in growing communities on the outskirts of Tijuana. Various groups from the church have gone over the years, but the high school trip is the big one each year, this year with 15 kids youths and 5 adults. He slept most of the day after a red-eye from San Diego to Detroit.

  9. The kids are gone. I told son I wanted to get rid of the two older bucks and keep the bucklings for our farmlette, but he just put in bucklings and doelings so somebody wanted all five and there you have it. I am left with the two bucks and one buckling (the one I wanted most) and my life is much easier than it was two hours ago.

  10. 🙂 Pool is warm enough with the new clay/brick makeshift wood heater my husband built

🙂 Beautiful wedding this afternoon. Reception was outside at a friend’s garden/yard with bocce, lawn darts, croquet and board games set up – how fun is that?

😦 We had to leave early because husband is working nights

🙂 Week 2 of camp went well – week 3 starts tomorrow

  11. See, that’s the problem with big sisters. They’re always attributing the worst motives to little brothers. And I was just trying to please Mumsee by showing I’d learned something from her.

  12. Kare – Lawn darts are illegal here in the U.S. But there is a modified version that looks like it has a weighted, rounded bottom where the metal point used to be.
