Prayer Requests 4-6-16

It’s Wednesday, so don’t forget to pray for The Gambia, and for Ajisuun as well.

Anyone else?

Psalm 146

¹Praise ye the Lord. Praise the Lord, O my soul.

While I live will I praise the Lord: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.

Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.

His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.

Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God:

Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever:

Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. The Lord looseth the prisoners:

The Lord openeth the eyes of the blind: the Lord raiseth them that are bowed down: the Lord loveth the righteous:

The Lord preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.

10 The Lord shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise ye the Lord.

  1. Thanks for your prayers for the first day of school or of term 4. It went well. God gave me wisdom on how to balance the day with work and play as everyone reconnected. The new student did not come and will not be here for several more weeks as they went back to the training course.
One very rowdy boy was absent.
And the little girl who lost her mother was in school. Tried to care for her and let her know we cared for her. I have asked my aide to perhaps take her aside and just see if she wants to talk. I have trouble understanding her at times. Oh, in my newsletter, she is on page two in the top right corner, next to the blond girl.

  2. This really isn’t about me but about all of us. As you know my mother was a severe alcoholic. Today would have been her birthday. I have started reading a book that my priest mentioned in his sermon this past Sunday. When the Past is Present. I am only a few pages in but it has dredged up some emotion. So much of our lives are influenced by our mothers both good and bad. They are the first most important person in our lives. I know the struggles and depression I have battled….. All that leads back to this Little Girl in Jo’s class. She is now missing the first most important person in her life. My prayer is that many, many women will come into her life to model what it means to be a woman and a mother. Jo, you and your aide are now filling an important spot in her life. May God give you the wisdom and the words to let her know all she is to become.

  3. Stargazer is taking the college position and also continuing to hunt for the job he really wants. Continued prayer for him to hear the Lord well. We don’t mind having him here; he’s an easy tenant.

  4. R is drinking again. 😦

He was drunk-texting Emily last night, about how drunk he was on his flight (yes, he really did go to California after all), & text-laughing about spilling coffee on a lady.

Praying for his salvation & deliverance. Also praying God will overcome & defeat the probabilities & statistics & such that say that Forrest will follow in his footsteps. To paraphrase (& change a bit) a scripture verse – Greater is His truth than the “truth” (statistics, etc.) of the world. Thanks to all who join me in these prayers.

  5. Karen, the key is that Forrest is not with him on a daily basis. Knowing what dangers lie ahead, Emily can help prevent them. I know you to be a kind hearted person who wants to believe the best about everyone, but without something DRASTIC leopards don’t change their spots and a narcissist will play you every time. Trust is the easiest thing to lose and it should be the hardest thing to regain.

  6. As you know, seventeen year old is working for one of the local crop dusters. We have discussed the hazards of chemical use and the importance of following safety precautions (like the pilot’s rule of keeping one hand on the aircraft while on the wing to avoid turning and walking into the spinning propeller). Apparently, the pilot of another outfit spilled some chemicals on himself and then changed to another chemical before flying. The chemical on the skin or the mix made him violently ill. He was able to safely land the aircraft but prayer for his recovery and lessons learned for the others. Thanks.

  7. Kim – Usually, R takes Forrest for some time on the weekends, & sometimes for an hour or two once a week. That is his right, according to the custody agreement. He would have to do something really awful to change that.

Thankfully, Forrest adores his Papa. This past Sunday, he didn’t want to go with R because he had missed us (mostly Lee, it seemed) from not seeing us the day before. Lee takes his role as Papa very seriously, & now & then drops little remarks about God’s love for him.

And of course, that little guy is bathed in prayer.
