Prayer Requests 4-4-16

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 144

¹Blessed be the Lord my strength which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:

My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.

Lord, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him!

Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away.

Bow thy heavens, O Lord, and come down: touch the mountains, and they shall smoke.

Cast forth lightning, and scatter them: shoot out thine arrows, and destroy them.

Send thine hand from above; rid me, and deliver me out of great waters, from the hand of strange children;

Whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood.

I will sing a new song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee.

10 It is he that giveth salvation unto kings: who delivereth David his servant from the hurtful sword.

11 Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood:

12 That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace:

13 That our garners may be full, affording all manner of store: that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets:

14 That our oxen may be strong to labour; that there be no breaking in, nor going out; that there be no complaining in our streets.

15 Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the Lord.

  1. One of our agents was hit by a car yesterday. She was out walking in her neighborhood. They took her to the local trauma center. The last I heard they were concerned about bleeding on the brain and had given her as much pain medication as they could. Her daughter lives near Boston and is an only child. Please pray that the doctors treating her will make the right decisions and that she will be OK

  2. I don’t know if I mentioned Stargazer is now an adjunct professor of Earth Sciences at our local JC, which basically means he can substitute teach.

They have offered him two lab classes for next fall, six hours a week of teaching. But not until the fall. It’s not nearly enough nor is it what he wants to do, but he is considering it–just to have some form of job/income.

Prayers for wisdom, but also so God’s will in his life would be made known. He’s taking another on-line class, will get a certification and continues to apply– but we are at 10 months out of school and discouragement . . . .

    Thank you.

  3. Emily has an interview today at the local nursing hone. Praying God’s will be done. (It would be great if she could manage to find a job relatively close to home, as long as the hours are good.)

Pray for me as I have to babysit Forrest alone today for a couple hours, because school is closed due to snow.

A more serious prayer request, for my old friend Gloria (we haven’t kept in touch much since her family moved to Maine several years ago, but I remember her fondly): Gloria, who is in her late 60s, is in a hospital for a possible blockage in an artery. Meanwhile, her oldest son just died of a heart attack. The worst part is that, last I heard, he was not a believer. If that was still the case, I cannot imagine Gloria’s pain. (Well, actually, I can imagine it, & it would be horrible.)

  4. Prayer for husband as he enters into the new hobby of truck driving. He has three weeks of classes, six days a week and spends the nights in a hotel in Lewiston, unless he comes home but then has to go back at three in the morning. Anyway, wisdom and safety. Wisdom as to whether he should do this or physically will be able to do it as his debilitation continues. Thanks.

  5. Oh no, michelle. I’m with mumsee, though, how could you break your arm dancing? I have this mental picture of you flailing around joyfully like the Peanuts happy dancers …

Seriously, though, praying that nothing’s broken. A guy at the dog park is still recovering from his broken arm 4 months later.

  6. I’m home, doctor doesn’t think it’s broken, but we had it xrayed anyway. I tripped over my enormous feet at a fast speed and was hurtling toward the wall–thankfully no one was in my way. I knew if I fell, I would hit my head on the wall–which is a bank of windows not to mention the standing fan.

So, I kept up the “dancing” and hit the window sill under the window–but a jutting sill so I banged the part of my forearm where the bone is close to the skin against the sill.

    The pain.

I sat down and knew I needed ice.

They gave me ice at the gym and Tylenol, when I knew I would need ibuprofin for swelling. It hurt so bad and swelled in such an odd way, I drove to the doctor office.

Did all that AND got the car washed, downed 600 mg ibuprofin and I’m probably good for the day.

I’ve much to be thankful for–including prayers.

Ah, my too large feet . . .

  7. Many needs listed today! Certainly, prayers for all of the above.

Struggles with 5th Arrow and his attitude toward schoolwork. Prayers for wisdom for us, please. Hubby and I discussed today some possible routes to take with him, and teenage daughters had good input, too. Son is resistant to it all, though.

  8. Susan is doing better. They were able to stop the brain bleeding. She is sore, bruised and will have a bad headache for several weeks. They will continue to monitor her. Her daughter flew in today to be with her. Thank you so much for praying for her. I have known her for a long, long time.

  9. My SIL is looking for a job again, too. He has taught for 15 yrs. and did 3 internships for counseling, yet doesn’t seem to be able to get hired, because of ‘lack of experience.’ He would like to get something permanent and in his new field, but will stay in teaching if necessary. My theory is more about age or knowing the right people, but I could be wrong. I do know young people who seem to get in right after they graduate and I know they have less experience.

  10. Gloria does not have a blockage after all. The doctors now say her chest pain was due to the great stress of losing her son.

Emily took Forrest up to the ER late this afternoon, because he may have broken his toe. (He dropped her laptop on it.) Ordinarily, there is nothing they can do for a broken toe except to bandage it up to the toe next to it, which can be done at home. But because R looks for things to start drama about, Emily felt it best to go to the ER just to be safe. (They are not home yet, so I don’t know if the toe is broken or not.)

Speaking of R, he has been dropping mentions of going away. Supposedly, he is leaving tomorrow (for California maybe). We think he is saying this for attention, as he has done that in the past. Anyway, whether he stays or goes, please say a prayer for his salvation & deliverance. Thank you.

Emily’s interview went very well this morning. (They have a few openings.) Later, one of her clinical instructors (“clinical” being the hands-on training they had with real patients) texted her to say that she had been contacted as a reference, & she gave her a glowing one. 🙂

  11. Husband had a job offer at school this morning. Driving a truck up to Canada every day. I think there must be more to it as he could not get there and back in one day and stay under their window of driveable hours in twenty four hours. Maybe it is there one day and back the next.

  12. I would appreciate prayer for anxiety over some tax issues. It is a matter over getting some required forms corrected. I seem to be doing a lot of phoning, but not finding the right person to get this done.
