Prayer Requests 3-31-16

It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.

Anyone else?

Psalm 140

¹Deliver me, O Lord, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man;

Which imagine mischiefs in their heart; continually are they gathered together for war.

They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders’ poison is under their lips. Selah.

Keep me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings.

The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah.

I said unto the Lord, Thou art my God: hear the voice of my supplications, O Lord.

O God the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.

Grant not, O Lord, the desires of the wicked: further not his wicked device; lest they exalt themselves. Selah.

As for the head of those that compass me about, let the mischief of their own lips cover them.

10 Let burning coals fall upon them: let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not up again.

11 Let not an evil speaker be established in the earth: evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him.

12 I know that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and the right of the poor.

13 Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence.

  1. Yep, we’ve got one, too, in our family. Arrogant as . . . Nero . . .

Praise and prayer requests–tell them about the joy of teaching the children, share a few stories like you’ve shared here. Prayer requests–tell them you’re lonely, I would, and then they’ll pray you find a friend. I’d ask them (us), to pray as well for hearing God’s direction during this season of your life. That’s always a good (and dangerous) one.

  2. Emily is submitting her resume to several places. One opening would be perfect for her & Forrest (& me) – 9am – 2pm. (Most beginning LPN positions are part-time or per diem.)

I have been concerned about what hours she will end up getting. I very much don’t want to have to be the one to get Forrest off to school in the morning, & working nights would mean she’d barely have any time with Forrest.

So I am praying she will get a job with hours that allow her to not be away from Forrest too much, & that I won’t have to babysit too much (sorry if that sounds selfish). But above all, I am praying for God’s will to be done.

  3. Oh eighteen year olds…this too shall pass…..and twelve years olds as well 🙂
Karen I don’t see it as selfish to not want to babysit so often….you have been such a great supporter of your children and grandchild…praying our Lord will give you insight and direction on what He would have you do….and then for Him to give you the strength to carry through…and draw boundaries when needed…. ❤

  4. I took my 18 year old and her boyfriend to lunch. I needed to leave so i handed the server my debit card. He realized and said he meant to buy lunch. I told him lunch was on him next week.

  5. I hope they can find decent jobs, Donna. We have terrible lay-offs in our area. We have been there and done that. It is not an easy thing to go through.

Prayers for all the young adults and children, as well. Also, for the perfect job for Emily.

A fifteen year old and a seventeen year old were killed in a car crash on a road we drove recently in TN. The seventeen year old is in my grandson’s school. The fifteen year old was a homeschooler. Neither had on seat belts. Pray for their families. I know how heartbroken they will be.

  6. The newspaper industry is brutal, we’ve all been there, done that — layoffs, closing down entire newspapers after 100+ years in a community … 😦

And we know many of these folks, of course, they’re former colleagues in many cases. It stinks.

Awful feeling that we’re now the “bad guys” causing it (although the company was bankrupt, there were no real good options for them, but still …. )

  7. Okay, here they are:
    Praise:
    1. Lots of rain – it is beautiful here.
    2. A very friendly, loving class of 20. I get lots of hugs and even cheers!
    3. God continually gives me new ideas and ways to refine my teaching to meet the needs of my students. I’m still learning.
    4. Health – many here are sick, but I am healthy

    Prayer:
    1. The school and Ukarumpa have many staffing needs.
    2. Those on furlough who are planning to return, but still need support.
    3. God’s continued wisdom as I teach.
    4. Loneliness – most of my friends have left or are on furlough and it is hard to be alone, especially on my birthday or holidays. I am taking lots of walks and spending time praising God to combat this. I will also be coming home for the June/July school break.
