My daughter-in-law’s recovery is going well, but last night she got scared she was developing a blood clot (which happened last time and changed her life forever).
I was already in bed, so my husband went to stay with the kids. Six hours later, no clot–thanks be to God!–but the concern remains.
Everyone has to go to work this morning–hey, I’m already here–but please continue to pray for no blood clots for A.
Michelle, my mother had multiple episodes of blood clots when I was a young child. Some of my earliest memories of her were in the hospital. I understand the seriousness of this and my prayers are with all of you. So many limitations and issues when you live your life on blood thinners. 😦
Praying for the many requests for grown children. What a picture of God’s love for us and his patience. Please pray for Designer Girl, as well. She is facing discouragement. Like the psalmist, she is questioning the doing of the right thing and only to be knocked down. It is so easy to see others take the easy or wrong road only to be rewarded with good in this life. Nothing new there. It is easy for us to lose track of eternal values and rewards in the meantime.
She didn’t want to get up again this morning. What was the point in going to school…they are two days away from Spring Break. There was lots of noise going on in the house. Amos slept with her last night so he had to go out then come back and get in bed with her. I sent her dad a text telling him what was going on. I think she received a text from him telling her to get up and go. I am done fighting with her over it. If she doesn’t graduate it’s on her not me. I have fought this battle until I am done.
We offered son homeschool, public school, and GED, he opted for the school of hard knocks. His call.
We are nearly done cleaning out his room. Found some pills that were probably from the nineteen year old now living in Missouri. She was on meds when she arrived but it appears she was not taking them, but hiding them in her room. Or he was getting them from somebody at school. And some more bud. We are thoroughly looking and cleaning every nook and cranny as nine year old is moving in today. He eats everything.
Karen– The third ACL repair was not done under the auspices of the college sports clinic–who of course were interested in getting their athlete on the courts as soon as possible and pushed her hard for #1 and 2 with specialists at the world class medical center next door.
The third was done after graduation, the physician was not as up-to-date as the university athletic department and he told her not to move her knee, over her mother’s questioning. That resulted in a blood clot that could have killed her.
That was 11 years ago. When the pain got really bad last night, six days out, she worried it was another clot (the last one turned up on day 4). MRI was clear, thanks be to God.
She’s a trooper, but has had tough physical issues as a result of being a champion athlete, that will plague her the rest of her life. I actively discourage people from hoping for a college athletic scholarship–it’s a Pandora’s box. Even the healthy nephew who got through unscathed physically, paid a price in other areas. An NCAA champion niece, same thing–jury is out if she’ll recover from shoulder overuse.
I’m not going to say professional athletes deserve a gazillion dollars for playing a sport, but I’m sympathetic they’re going to need good health insurance, if not funds, for the rest of their lives. You don’t get that, however, from playing college ball. 😦
We are off to Moscow to help daughter tell my folks about her situation. The neighbor is watching the younger three and seventeen year old is watching the fourteen year old. Prayer for wisdom, please, and thanks.
Things are getting weirder and weirder. I asked daughter to let me see some of the paperwork so we could better understand her situation, but she lost it all.

Michelle – May I ask what you meant by “which happened last time and changed her life forever”? (I realize you may not be free to tell me.)
Kim – How is BG’s attitude this morning? How are you doing?

My former high school football/baseball player doesn’t want his grandson going near a football.

My oldest grandson is into body building. It all seems so unnatural to me. I cannot champion it. His doctor was not concerned.
