  1. Supreme Court today hears arguments on the Little Sisters of the Poor case — interesting to us since the Little Sisters are a big presence in our community, running a very respected home for the elderly.

I still remember meeting the former mother superior at the dog park some years ago — in she strode, a tall woman in full-length white habit, a border collie at her side. 🙂 of course I did a story on her and her dogs some months later. 🙂

Scalia, though, will be missed in the arguments today …

  2. Cool, I found my old (2007) story about Mother Maguerite & her border collies at Little Sisters of the Poor (she’s no longer there and as I recall her dog therapy program was later nixed by her superiors, sadly). She’s not pictured in the story (I believe she was camera shy) but she was tall and thin and walked very briskly. 🙂 She was a striking sight at the dog park in her full-length white habit & her 2 border collies at her side (and she made all of us feel always so under-dressed!).

“An American Mormon missionary who was injured in the horrifying Brussels airport terrorist attack previously survived the Boston bombing and the Paris attacks.”

“‘This is his third terrorist attack,’ Chad Wells, Mason’s father, told ABC News. ‘This is the third time that sadly in our society that we have a connection to a bomb blast ‘We live in a dangerous world and not everyone is kind and loving.’ Chad said he and Mason were a block away from the finish line of the Boston Marathon, where the bombing took place, waiting for Mason’s mother, Kymberly Wells, who was a runner.”

“A professor at the University of North Dakota (UND) has pledged to call the police every time she sees a gun on campus, even if the gun is unloaded and fake.

“It’s not my job to decide whether people carrying guns at school are an actual threat. It’s my job to teach and to get home to my family,” Professor Heidi Czerwiec wrote in a letter to the Grand Forks Herald.

Last week, Czerwiec called her local police department to investigate an alleged gun threat on campus. The threat, however, was two ROTC students carrying guns on their way to a routine training exercise.”

“The dispatcher confirmed with Czerwiec that she had likely just seen a standard training exercise. Rather than responding with relief, however, Czerwiec wrote that she reacted with “fear” and “rage” because the university had the audacity to allow such an outrage to occur.

“I can barely talk—first, with fear, and then with rage when the dispatcher reports back that yes, in fact, I’ve probably just seen ROTC cadets, though they’re going to send an officer to check because no one has cleared it with them. They thank me for reporting it,” she said.”

Poor thing needs a safe space, and quick….. 🙄

  5. This one…. well it’s only fair right?

Oh, and also it’s disgusting that they’re even considering allowing abortions at college clinics. So if they have there way you’ll be able to get pregnant, and get an abortion, and never leave campus. Maybe they can even get Planned Parenthood to sell the remains back to the college for research. Recycling is green and all, you know how lefties love that. It’s all so perverse. It’s evil. And it’s all so convenient and easy.

“The University of California in Berkeley (UCB) could provide on-campus access to abortions if a student senate bill successfully sways the administration.

Senate Resolution 69 (SR 69), a bill that would bring abortion providers to campus clinics, passed a final round of voting Wednesday during a weekly student senate meeting.

The bill argues that inaccessibility to abortion is a violation of women’s rights and impedes academic progress. Since, the bill suggests, women make up a majority of the undergraduate student population, it is only just they be provided with any means necessary to eradicate whatever may get in the way of academic success.

“When medication abortion is not available at UHS (University Health Services), students who are seeking an abortion face financial, time, and travel constraint burdens that create negative impacts on academic performance and mental health,” the bill states. “UHS is a health center dedicated to meeting the health needs of students in order for students to be able to upkeep their academic well-being. Abortion is a common health-care service and access to abortion is necessary and relevant in student life.””

“The bill also notes that abortion services were available on campus in the 1980’s but have since been abolished because of a lack of trained abortion providers. Now, however, the bill states that there are many trained professionals working in the school’s health office who could very well provide students with abortions.”

““I believe the University should reorganize funds from the administration’s paychecks to university health services. Many of the administrators at UC Berkeley receive more than generous paychecks while they continue to put student health on the backburner,” Chugh said. “This resolution is demanding that the university reconsider and reprioritize its funding. Instead of investing money into the administration’s paychecks, the university should be investing in students’ health and safety needs.””

I have no sympathy for the administrators, after all, they fed these beasts. Reap, sow.

  6. Planned Parenthood is 3.7 miles away from the Cal campus in El Cerrito, or 23 minutes by bus. Do you need to know the bus #? It’s available on Google.

If you can get into Cal as a student, you can figure that out yourself. This ancient alumnae of UCLA was able to do it in less than 10 seconds.

    Ridiculous.
