  1. Good morning l, Chas.

    Adorable photo today!

Scott took the day off and we’re going to the aquarium in Galveston (it’s an hour and a half drive, so we plan to spend most of the day).

  2. Baking a carrot/pineapple cake to surprise someone for their birthday tomorrow.
First baking I have done in I can’t remember how long. It will not be frosted as I don’t seem to have any powdered sugar. I’m sure it will still be appreciated and eaten.

  3. Wow! Pow! Zowie! That’s my version of fanfare for Superheros!

Meow! Reow! Smeow! That’s my version of fanfare for Black and White cats!

They both get a pinch for not wearing green♡

My brother has an interview and then will be by to help me put a support on the middle slat under the new mattress and box springs. For the warranty to be effective it has to have middle support that resches to the floor, not just a cross slat.

The bed has continued to air out since the weather has been suitable for open windows. Pollen is starting to leave it’s yellow mark on everything so this will be the last open window day for awhile. I look forward to actually using this monster truck size bed (think how tall the trucks sit on those tires and you get the idea).

Brother will also help with putting together the new little computer desk. Art did not mention wanting a desk, but when I saw it has some side shelves that Miss Bosley can perch on, that sold it. Art had said previously he’d like a climbing tree for Ms. Boz so this serves both purposes.

  4. I had to laugh when I recently made a cake at my daughter’s home and my grandson asked me why I made a cake. I didn’t even know how to answer him, at first. I bake often, because I enjoy it and have the time. My daughter works and does not enjoy baking as much, although she is a good baker when she does so. She mostly bakes cakes for birthdays, hence my grandson’s confusion. It didn’t keep him from enjoying it.

  5. Good Morning…..smart kitty knows better than to mess with supergirl…
We are preparing for a winter storm…..tonight and tomorrow morning…just when I have to drive into town for work…5 inches of ice and snow….not for the faint of heart!
Jo that cake sounds like a wonderfully moist one with the pineapple and carrots….no icing needed…what a sweet surprise for your unsuspecting friend!

  6. Mumsee,

She’s doing pretty good I guess. She saw the Dr. on Friday. She, I, and her physical therapists thought she would be released to return to work. That did not happen. She is working full-time from home, but the Dr. doesn’t think she is ready for a long commute yet. Too much instability and not enough strength at this point. So for at least another month, she’ll continue to work from home and do PT 3 days a week. She’s getting there, but not quite yet.

For my own selfish reasons, I’m enjoying it. I like having her here all the time. I thought I’d be sick of it by now, but it turns out I’ll be sad when she has to go back to the office. The broken ankle is a curse, and it sucks for her, but having her home has been a blessing for all of us. 🙂

  7. Peter,

I’ve watched it, but the girls haven’t yet. They’re too busy binge watching Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D. to get caught up so they can start watching the weekly series.

My daughter has finally relented and started watching movies I like/recommend. And she loves them. She’s about caught up on the Batman, Superman, Avengers, and the like. That was necessary because the new Batman vs. Superman movie comes out next week, and Avenger’s Civil War soon after. Now we’re starting the Spiderman movies and then the X-Men. 🙂

She even watched Godzilla (the newest one) with me. But she didn’t much care for it. 🙂

  8. Good to hear she’s coming along aj.

    And that photo — AAAAHHHHHIIIII

    Too funny!

I watched a few of the first SuperGirl shows this season and thought it was good — it’s just not my favorite genre (super heroes) so I fell out of it.

Friend on FB who lives near one of our canyons in town posted that 2 coyotes got into her backyard (with a 6-foot fence) and killed one of the 3 feral cats she feeds. 😦 They have fences that help keep coyotes out — they go deep under ground to provide a barrier against digging under and have an outward curved to to make them harder to climb over. But coyotes are so dang smart.

Miss Bosley would love a cat tree. I got one for Annie after bringing her home as I wanted her to have a “safe” space high above the dogs if she ever needed it. She loves that thing and spends a lot of time sharpening her claws on it and sleeping on the highest tier. She likes to look down on all of us, we’re her kingdom.

I had a long homeless story to write yesterday and may have to listen in on an LA city council committee hearing today on the same subject.

  9. Mumsee,

Part of the reason her recovery has been slow (and it also is causing the instability and lack of strength) is because she also had extensive ligament and tendon damage as well. But nobody mentioned that for the first 5 months for some reason. That did lead to some depression because she thought she wasn’t healing as quickly as she should. But once we knew why, that seemed to help lessen it. Thankfully. 🙂

She does deal with occasional bouts of frustration and depression, but not as often.

  10. Ugh, bad news about our company’s bid to acquire more papers (yesterday was the auction which we were in line to win but didn’t). There will be an anti-trust challenge ahead in the courts for the winning bidder, but it could be bad for us if it stands.

  12. In honour of the day of Patrick’s death, who died in the hope of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, here are some of his own words:

For I am truly a debtor to God, who has given me so much grace that many people should be born again to God through me, and that for them everywhere should be ordained priests for this people, newly come to the faith, which the Lord took from the ends of the earth, as He promised formerly by His prophets: “Our fathers falsely prepared idols, and there is no profit in them, to thee the Gentiles come and will say.” And again: “I have set thee to be the light of the Gentiles, that thou mayest be for salvation unto the utmost parts of the earth.” And thus I wait the promise of Him who never fails, as He promises in the Gospel: “They shall come from the east and the west [from the north and from the south], and shall sit down with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob.” So we believe that the faithful shall come from all parts of the world…

Wherefore behold how in Ireland they who never had the knowledge of God, and hitherto only worshipped unclean idols, have lately become the people of the Lord, and are called the sons of God.

  13. Chas really should send AJ a photo of his pet . . .

Blessings often look best in the rear view mirror. I’m trying to turn the prism of my own experiences and look at the situations differently and it’s surprisingly helpful–you would thing I should have learned that lesson by now!

  14. I see somebody asked for opinions on the Adam LaRoche deal. It is a wonderful thing when fourteen year old boys can go to work with dad. That is how they see men in action, find out what real men are supposed to do and be. Interactions, responses to challenges, etc. But I certainly see that it could become problematic if twenty players are bringing in their sons and daughters ……

  15. Thank you, Russell Moore: http://www.russellmoore.com/2016/03/17/are-millennials-selfish-and-entitled/

On the whole, though, I find the Millennial generation’s grasp of gospel Christianity far better than what we’ve seen in a long time. They tend to be better at articulating a Christian vision of life, because they’ve had to do so all their lives, never able to count on a pseudo-Christian culture to do pre-evangelism for them.

  16. Can anyone else imagine Miss Bosley perching on that top shelf? I can do an ad for an alternative use for the desk and get Pet Smart to carry the desks. I don’t know if they can afford Miss Bosley’s fee for doing an ad, however.

  19. Brother was here until around 7:30 so we made a day of it. The bed is fixed up but I have to buy new pillows. The desk is ready for Art.

My brother’s interview went well, but he is in an industry that seems to prefer youth to experience. We will wait and see if he hears anything.

  20. It appears that nine year old son is going to be able to pass the hunter safety test this evening. He is spouting off all sorts of info. That means he will be out shooting a rifle on Saturday. Should be interesting. Lots of adults will be there.
