  1. Brit Hume this morning — adding that he’s “never seen anything” like this election cycle — noted that the dilemma for Republicans as a party now is whether to continue to resist Trump with all they have; or, to somehow decide he can be domesticated (my word) and influenced so that ’embracing’ him is the better way to go should he appear to be the inevitable nominee after this month’s big primaries.

Hume thinks that because Trump’s negatives are so incredibly high among the overall electorate (in other words, a whole lot of people really, really don’t like the guy according to numerous polls), he’s doomed to ultimately lose in a general election against Clinton — who’s negatives are high but not nearly as high as Trump’s. It could be enough of a disaster to take the party down with him in the Senate and maybe even the House.

Leaving behind a heap of burning ruins for what was once the conservative movement in this country.

Not a pretty picture for most of us here. 😦

  2. I am voting for Ted Cruz and firmly believe you should too. Why? As a Christian I believe Cruz is the most able to represent and enforce the Constitutional laws that make freedom of worship possible. He is most likely to work to preserve our freedoms. He also is pro-life, wanting to end abortion, which takes away the rights of around 4,000 unborn babies every year.

Donald Trump claims to be a Christian, but his words and actions do not show the Fruit of being one. If you don’t believe me, you need to do some research or just listen to the daily news reports of Trump calling everyone else a liar, regardless of the facts; of him denying what he said in the past about various policies; of using four-letter words on the public stage. There are many ways to verify these points. Go to Glen Beck’s website, The Blaze (http://www.theblaze.com/), and click on any of the stories about Trump.

Aside from the Christian aspect, there is what we look for in a leader. We want someone who has shown he’s a leader. Ted Cruz has done that, standing up to the Washington establishment several times, regardless of what people think. At least twice he has filibustered legislation that was not good for the US. He has withstood all the name calling and other attacks form the Left and its lap-dog media. Donald Trump says that no one in Washington likes Cruz. He’s correct, but for the wrong reason. Cruz tells the truth that Washington Liberals and the establishment GOP don’t want us to hear.

We also want someone who has integrity and honesty. Trump acts like a playground bully, threatening lawsuits every time someone attacks his policies. He interrupts the others at debates when he doesn’t have anything of substance to say. A person of integrity lets his opponents have their say before stating his point.

In the case of electability, Trump does the worst against Hillary Clinton, the likely Democratic nominee (http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2016/president/2016_presidential_race.html).

So, consider your choices on Primary Day. Go and vote for Ted Cruz.

  3. One of my concerns at this point — and I just heard a historian say essentially the same thing — is that even if Trump somehow doesn’t get the nomination, it will be perceived as having been “stolen” from him by the party and the nomination won’t be worth anything.

Meanwhile, go vote your conscience and we’ll see where it all winds up in a few weeks from now.

Hey, at least it’s not boring. 🙂

  4. What if we as Christians are called to live in this time to show the love of God in the midst of disaster? Think Jeremiah. Perhaps the Lord is giving us to the results of our desires as a collective people, not as individuals. How did “real” Christians feel in 1930s Germany as that demagogue took control of their control? Where did they put their hopes?

It all comes back to being willing to be in the center of God’s will, even if that is in the middle of a nasty, terrifying crucible.

Meanwhile, I’m going to teach on Hannah–another believer living in a nation that thumbed its nose at God and whose religious leaders . . . should have known better.

  5. I linked before on this whistle blowers claims. Looks like we have some corroborating evidence now.

    http://freebeacon.com/national-security/dhs-secretly-scrubbed-1000-names-from-u-s-terror-watch-lists/

“The Department of Homeland Security removed the names of nearly 1,000 individuals suspected of terrorism ties from the U.S. terrorist watch list, according to newly released documents obtained by an advocacy group under a Freedom of Information Act request.”

“The latest documents, obtained by Judicial Watch and released on Tuesday, appear to confirm these initial reports. They further disclose that at least 1,000 names were scrubbed from the U.S. Terrorist Screening Database as part of an administration effort to protect the civil rights of suspected individuals.

“The documents appear to confirm charges that Obama administration changes created a massive ‘hands off’ list,” Judicial Watch said in a statement. “Removed data from the terrorist watch list could have helped prevent the San Bernardino terrorist attack.”

““These new documents bolster allegations that the Obama administration may have removed information from a terrorist watch list that could have prevented the San Bernardino terrorist attack,” Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton said in a statement. “Philip Haney risked his career to blow the whistle on how the Obama administration created a ‘hands off” list of over 1,000 foreign nationals with potential terrorist ties. And, once again, it was a Judicial Watch lawsuit—and not Congress or the media—that uncovered the key information about this national security scandal.””

  6. Callers into Rush’s program today seemed to think Trump would stand up “for the little guy”.
They’ll learn that the only guy Trump stands up for is Trump.
He knows nothing at all about “the little guy”, and cares less.
Though he claims to love the poorly educated.

    He said that!

… Never in modern times has there been a presidential candidate who has hurled more personal insults and hurtful accusations at his fellow candidates and others who disagree with him. It should embarrass a normal person, but Trump appears beyond embarrassment. ….

The country is not served by such low-class behavior. Neither does the political debate format serve the public when it resembles a cage match rather than a serious discussion about the multiple challenges facing America. There must be a better way to elect a president than this.

… Trump belittles, he demeans, and he complains that some in the media don’t treat him “fairly” when he has been on TV more than all of the other candidates combined. …

Beyond reason best describes the Trump campaign. It also explains the fealty so many have for a man with whom one hopes they have nothing in common—from his lifestyle, to his indecipherable politics, to his fact-challenged pronouncements.

In past elections some voters have complained about being forced to choose between the lesser of two evils. If the nominee for the Democratic Party is Hillary Clinton, and if Republicans select Donald Trump, this election may force voters to choose between the least evil of two lessers.

The hostile takeover of the GOP that conservatives started in 2010 is now being taken over by non-conservatives.

Seriously, Oklahoma is the only state in the country where Obama didn’t carry a single county in 2012.

  10. I know which brings up an interesting point. Clinton may win the nomination on the basis of states the Democrats have no hope in winning in the general election, while Sanders wins the blue states. Isnt the Democratic party worried they will upset the base?

Its also interesting that in the most conservative Iowa county the Democrats also voted for Sanders. Anti-establisment votes beat back any attempt at red baiting

  11. I still don’t understand why Sanders only gets 15% of the black vote. After all, earlier in the campaign in Seattle he just abandoned his own rally and turned over his microphone to the two screaming Black Lives Mater protesters.

I have been a radio talk show host for 33 years, nationally syndicated for 18. I have never experienced anything similar to what I am experiencing now. Until recently, the only hate mail I ever received was from a small number people on the left. The major reason for this, I am convinced, is that I don’t yell at callers and I treat callers who disagree with respect.

Reading my emails these days is a brand new experience. I receive hate mail, sometimes laced with obscenities, from Republicans. …

… Many anti-Rubio Republicans regard Rubio as a traitor on the immigration issue and therefore have contempt for his supporters. Many anti-Cruz Republicans regard Cruz as an extremist conservative who is, moreover, a misanthrope, and therefore have contempt for his supporters. And many anti-Trump Republicans — perhaps most — regard Trump as a dangerous fraud, and therefore view his supporters with contempt.

Needless to say, with these attitudes, there is little chance any Republican can win.

So, then, despite eight years of failure under a Democratic president, and with Hillary Clinton — widely regarded as an untrustworthy woman who has put her pursuit of money and power above the interests of her country — as the Democratic candidate, Republicans will still lose.

And Republicans will have no one to blame but themselves. …
