  1. They are right about Trump
He puts on a good show. But there is no substance to anything he says.
We need a leader who has a conservative vision for America.
Cruz is the best one I know. I like Carson, but he has the same trouble Trump has from a different angle. i.e. He wants to do the right thing, but doesn’t seem to get it.
I do not like what America is becoming.

  2. AJ again….

Well that didn’t take long. The GOP has responded to the Trump piece from NR. Apparently, they aren’t fans of the piece.

    http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/national-review-loses-gop-debate-sponsorship-over-anti-trump-issue/ar-BBoyfxT?li=BBnb7Kz&ocid=U142DHP

“The Republican National Committee has ended a debate partnership with National Review after the venerable conservative magazine devoted its new issue to a “symposium” of reasons why voters should reject Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.

“We expected this was coming,” the magazine’s publisher Jack Fowler wrote in a blog post late Thursday night, just 90 minutes after the symposium went live. “Small price to pay for speaking the truth about The Donald.””

“Yet a clash of egos and interest has now stymied several attempts to bring conservative media into the debates. While Salem Radio’s Hugh Hewitt, considered one of the best interviewers on the right, has made two appearances as a CNN debate co-panelist, a forum co-hosted by the Washington Times and Liberty University never got past the planning stage.

In an interview early Friday morning, National Review’s editor-in-chief Rich Lowry said that the magazine knew it was risking a debate snub when work on the Trump package began. “We priced it in,” he said, describing an editorial process that began shortly after the Christmas holiday. “We wanted to push back against this notion that it was just the establishment that was opposed to Trump, so we assembled this group of people who nobody can accuse of being the establishment. We actually wanted this to be the first issue of the year, but we held it. That timing just turned out to be fortuitous, with the establishment parts of the party suddenly bending his way.””

Now is the establishment just bending his way because they think he’ll win, or just to stick a thumb in the eye of the conservative wing yet again?

    I’m thinking the latter.

  3. Christian persecution reached record highs in 2015.

    http://www.cnn.com/2016/01/17/world/christian-persecution-2015/

“Last year was the most violent for Christians in modern history, rising to “a level akin to ethnic cleansing,” according to a new report by Open Doors USA, a watchdog group that advocates for Christians.

In total, the survey found that more than 7,100 Christians were killed in 2015 for “faith-related reasons,” up 3,000 from the previous year, according to the group’s analysis of media reports and other public information as well as external experts. Open Door’s report is independently audited by the International Institute of Religious Freedom. Open Doors USA is an organization that works with Christians worldwide to “equip and encourage” those living under persecution while also helping churches in America advocate for the persecuted around the world.

The group’s report defines Christian persecution “as any hostility experienced as a result of one’s identification with Christ.” Open Doors found this persecution ranged from imprisonment, torture, beheadings and rape to the loss of home and assets, the loss of a job, or even rejection from a community.

Speaking at the National Press Club on Wednesday, David Curry, president and CEO of Open Doors, introduced the annual ranking of countries based on their severity of Christian persecution, evaluating levels of violence worldwide to formulate the global top 50. The list, now in its 25th year, is topped by North Korea for the 14th consecutive time. Curry says that “pariah states” like North Korea are especially hostile toward Christians.

According to the report, however, much of the persecution faced by Christians occurs in predominantly Muslim nations, many of which are “failed states” that fail to protect any of their citizens’ religious liberty.”

  4. Trump in Narnia? From First Things:

” … Which brings us back to the subject of prophetic voices. Did C. S. Lewis foresee the rise of Donald Trump? Not specifically, I’m sure. But Lewis had a remarkable understanding of human nature. He knew what it was like to feel that all hope was lost. And he knew that fear and despair can drive decent people to look for someone, anyone, who projects an appearance of strength. …

… Tired of waiting for Aslan—who may be nearer than we think—we turn elsewhere. It doesn’t matter if our candidate hates, bullies, and exploits other people, the reasoning goes, just as long as he’s good to us and gives us what we want. Hatred is a perfectly acceptable weapon, as long as it’s “on our side.”

So said Nikabrik as he prepared to unleash a great evil on the land of Narnia.

    C. S. Lewis may have lived well before Donald Trump’s time, but he was prescient about the situation. The only fate that awaits a group that turns against its own core values for the sake of security and power is the fate of Nikabrik.”

  5. So there’s turmoil within the GOP and between National Review, the RNC, Trump supporters, the Establishment, etc, etc. This is reason #241 why Christians have been wasting their time and votes on subpar candidates; is this not plain? If Christians had been speaking and voting with a clear voice in demand of a decent, wise, godly candidate these last 30 years, we might be able to chime in with a good solution, with some clout behind what we say. Too late. Our message in the political realm is just mishmash. No wonder it’s been ignored by politicians once they’re in office.

  6. And another thing, how much he tithes has nothing to do with whether he is a Christian or not. Being a Christian is based on the work of Christ, not us. After that, we all grow at different rates in different areas.

  7. Twitter has made this political year much more fun. Last night one third of conservatives were still firing away at Hillary and Sanders, one third were at war with assorted Trumpsters and the final third had lost all hope and were posting photos from Idiocracy.
