Prayer Requests 1-21-16

It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.

Anyone else?

Psalm 71:1-12

¹In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.

Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me.

Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.

Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.

For thou art my hope, O Lord God: thou art my trust from my youth.

By thee have I been holden up from the womb: thou art he that took me out of my mother’s bowels: my praise shall be continually of thee.

I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge.

Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day.

Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth.

10 For mine enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together,

11 Saying, God hath forsaken him: persecute and take him; for there is none to deliver him.

12 O God, be not far from me: O my God, make haste for my help.

  1. Prayers please: without going into too much detail, I’m struggling with family of origin issues. One of my siblings has been estranged from my parents for about two years.
He was the proverbial black sheep growing up. My mom is distressed by the situation, but has no insight into her part in the problem.

  2. My daughter-in-law is in bed with backaches coughing and a spinning head. A trip to the doc yesterday left them confused: is it a kidney infection or maybe pneumonia? My son can work from home and is tending her; I’ll be there kid watching this afternoon when he takes her for a chest x-ray. Her health issues are long; pray for clarity, etc. and of course that she’ll be healed and running once more. Hers is a busy household. I wonder who will handle cub scouts today?

  3. I just found out one of my nieces was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. It was found when a yearly scoping was done. She had GERD issues. She is a special needs woman (in her thirties) who lives in a group home. Her name is Janelle. Her parents are divorced but will both accompany to the Mayo for more testing and information.

  4. Carol apparently will be stuck in the nursing home for at least another 10 days, from the sounds of it.

They’re trying a new dosage of Lasix as her legs have ballooned up and she now is having trouble walking because of that (I’m sure she’s also weak after being basically laid up now for a couple weeks). Lassie is the diuretic medication that also caused her potassium to plummet, so the trick now is finding the right dosage as she needs to take something for the severe water retention … Once they can do that, then she’ll have to do some PT to make sure she can get up and walk OK before they’ll discharge her.

We still don’t know what this means for her spot at the Hollywood residence — these facilities are known to bump people out when they’re gone this long and they find they can fill their room with another paying body (I believe Carol’s paid up through the end of January — after that, I suppose all bets are off).

She’s got a pile of library books to get back, too, but fortunately for us LA city libraries just announced they’ll have a citywide amnesty (no fines) period for returning overdue books between Feb. 1 and 14, so that should help out there.

  5. And a praise, one of Carol’s lifelong school friends from NY (who is now a writer living in England) reached out to me, wanting to connect again with Carol — they’ve been in touch here and there through the years, but not for a couple years now and friend was concerned when her Christmas card, sent to Carol’s other residence in Downey, was returned undelivered).

So I gave the friend (we’re connected through FB) a quick update and passed on Carol’s contact info, hoping she gets in touch with her today. 🙂

  6. I just got an email that the Trisomy 18 baby girl passed away. Her funeral will be on Sunday. Very sad time for the parents and grandparents and all in our church family. Two funerals in one week is overload.
