  1. At someone’s suggestion, I’m reading The Camp of the Saints. It’s an interesting book, but not a fun book to read. Wordy. It doesn’t have to be as long as it it.
But it happens to be an important book now. A few years ago, it wouldn’t have had significance..
The scenario is taken in 1975. Hords, that is; millions, of people in Western India take ships and are on the sea headed for France. (I’m only on p.98 now, so I don’t know what happens.) The story is, “What about those people?” How will we handle this. India won’t take those poor starving people back. What to do? Some, because they are philanthropic, want to accept and provide for them. Some, because they hate Western Civilization, want them in to change the culture. (Is this contemporary?)
One thing we already know. France won’t be the same.
So far. There is no solution.

Lots of pertinent insights in this book. What brough me here now was:”
“Nowdays, nothing is as frightening as the truth. It is such a mysterious word. No one knows what’s behind it. No one wants to. They avoid it. But it frightens them all the same. ….”

Contemporary. I can think of several examples:
    National debt.
    Unemployment rate.
    Peaceful religion.
    They really love each other
We have to take those refuges.
    That’s not who we are
    Ad infinitum
