Peter’s Pack of Pickled Pigskin Picks “15-Week 7

Lucky 7, or some say. Maybe week 7 of Pickled Pigskin Picks will be lucky for someone not named Tychicus, IBNO or kbells. I don’t believe in luck. If you do, pick the games based on something other than the logical choice. Just pick 10 winners and the score of the Tie Breaker, which this week is a Big 12 matchup, chosen by last week’s winner Tychicus. And get those entries in by Friday 9:00 PM EDT when Boise State takes on Utah State. Oh, and the other Idaho school is in the Pillow fight against Troy of Alabama, both 1 and 4 on the season.

  1. Boise State @ Utah State

  2. #17 Iowa @ #20 Northwestern

  3. Purdue @ Wisconsin

  4. #10 Alabama @ #9 Texas A&M

  5. Vanderbilt @ South Carolina

  6. USC @ #14 Notre Dame

  7. Arizona @ Colorado

  8. Boston College @ #5 Clemson

  9. Pillow Fight: Idaho @ Troy

  10. Tie Breaker: Guess winner and final score – West Virginia @ #2 Baylor

  1. Chas’ wild guesses. I see I differ from Aj only in the Northwestern – Iowa game. But I’m sticking with my choices.

    Boise
    Northwestern
    Boilers
    Alabama
    Gamecocks
    Irish
    Arizona
    Clemson 😦
    Idaho
    Baylor 21 – West Virginia 7

  2. I think I got 9 out of 10 correct last time, so I’m tempted to chalk it up to beginner’s luck, and quit while I’m ahead. 😉

Nah. I’ll try again, even though I still don’t know what I’m doing. (And it may just show this time.) 😉

    1. Utah State
    2. Iowa
    3. Wisconsin
    4. Texas A&M
    5. South Carolina
    6. Notre Dame
    7. Colorado
    8. Clemson
    9. Troy
    10. Baylor 30-14

Going for all the home teams, except the Iowa/Northwestern game, as the visiting team is higher ranked in that match-up.

  3. Since I am one of the biggest losers this season, why don’t I just keep with the trend? It is fun to anticipate that when you can’t go any further down that you can onl;y go up! Bring on the helium!
    1. Boise (keeping Mumsee in mind so she will share bon bons on the Biggest Losers Reality show)
    2. NW (Next Win)
    3. Purdy (purdy is as purdy does)
    4. TX in the a.m. (alarming win)
    5. S.C. scoundrels (not!)
    6. Notorious Dame
    7. AZzzzzz….hit the snooze alarm
    8. Clem’s son (the incredible bulk)
    9. Feathers fly to Troy after they chow down
    10. Baylor 76-24(husband laughed at my prediction, gotta keep him smiling!)

  4. Yes, 6 Arrows. you got 9 correct last week. I never posted all the results since I was at my daughter’s house over the weekend.

I see the logos got lost again. ~Sigh~ Would sending the list as an attachment work? Can you open an RTF (rich-text file) document AJ? (They open in just about any word processor.)

    Anyway, here goes:

BSU beats Utah State, which was one of those cellar dwellers in the old Western Athletic Conference. I don’t think they are much better now.

Iowa continues it’s climb up the ladder. Might as well take advantage of Nebraska’s slump.

Wisconsin The Badgers can handle Boilermakers. It’s Hawkeyes they have trouble with.

Bama Two reasons: They are not a Texas team and the Tide cannot possibly lose more than 2 games per season. It just doesn’t happen!

SoCar I don’t Vandy is capable of winning an SEC game this year.

USC Two reasons: I don’t like Notre Dame and USC is in the PAC-12. (And I like their uniforms better.)

    Arizona Need I say why?

Clemson They have a national #5 ranking for a good reason. (Maybe it has to do with beating Notre Dame in a downpour?)

Troy I cannot understand why any team would join a conference that is spread out from Idaho to Goergia. Travel costs would be prohibitive. Perhaps that’s why Idaho and half of the Sunbelt teamshave fewer than 2 wins: Thay pay so much to travel they can’t afford quality coaches.

Baylor 42 – WV 14. I know, a Texas team. But sometimes I go with reality.

  5. Nine down one to go. It’s a three way tie between AJ, Mumsee and 6Arrows. Right now, Colorado is ahead by 7 points in the 3rd quarter. AJ picked Arizona. The ladies picked Colorado. If they win, Mumsee wins because her tie breaker prediction is closer than 6Arrows. If Arizona wins, AJ gets the nod here.

Go Wildcats! (Nothing personal against the two fine ladies. I just like the Wildcats much better than the Buffaloes.)

  6. Actually, IBNO, there is a 6 way tie for second if between you (with the best overall tie breaker score-24 off the mark), mumsee, kbells, 6Arrows, Chas and me. Here are our scores:

    AJ 8
    The next six had 7
    Tychicus had 6
    Janice had 5

    Actual game scores:
    USU 52 -BSU 26
    Iowa 40 NW 10
    Wisc 24 Purdue 7
    Bama 41 TA&M 23
    SoCar 19 Vandy 10
    ND 41 SoCal 31
    Ariz 38 CO 31
    Clem 34 BC 17
    Idaho 19 Troy 16
    Baylor 62 WV 38

Tomorrow I’ll post the overall scores just so we can see who is winning for the cumulative score half way through. In the meantime, AJ can pick next week’s tie breaker game.

  7. Hey, wait, I’ve only done this twice, so I’ll probably be on the bottom of the cumulative pile. How about averages instead? I tied for first and tied for second. That should count for something, shouldn’t it?

    Shouldn’t it? 🙂

  9. I went from 90% to 80% in the two weeks I’ve been in it. Maybe I should quit while I’m ahead. 😉

Thanks for compiling all the data you do for these, Peter. You do a nice job of it, and it’s fun to boot!
