Anyone watch the Democrat Debate?
I found it funny that I found an app at CNN that allowed you to agree or disagree with what the candidate was saying. I watched the numbers. Every time Hillary Clinton was speaking they went down into the 20% range. When Bernie was speaking they went up into the 80 or 90% range, yet CNN declared her the winner. THEN people used CNN’s own metrix to accuse them of lying about Hillary winning the debate.
It is scary that Sander’s won according the people. We are in big trouble if this is the best we have got.
It’s the best Democrats have. But don’t worry, all the R’s are better choices, including Trump. It’s only Democrats that have a weak bench, and that’s fine with me, I won’t vote for them anyway. :).
I punished myself by watching it. Sanders came off as an absolute nut (in my view), but, yes, he remains the favorite among many on the left (who now dominate the party). Hillary did well, she didn’t stumble in any major way and she looked and sounded alert, calm and more in command than she has in a very long time.
The others, I finally figured out, were there for comic relief.
But the Democratic candidates did do something the Republicans haven’t been able to do — they didn’t viscously tear into one another, making it an all out food fight. Instead, they focused their toughest criticism on the Republicans.
I know the competition is larger and more fierce in the GOP, but those candidates could stand to develop a little more restraint in that area so everyone doesn’t walk away lame and blind from taking on so much “friendly fire.” 😦
A divided party simply cannot win the general election in such a closely divided nation.
But there may be no way of *fixing* that at this stage of political history. 😦
” … To say that Madam Hillary succeeded in impersonating a human being would be going too far. Her purported opponents range from pathetic to weird. By contrast, Hillary appeared in command. Although she makes much of her claim to womanhood, she stood out as the most manly figure in this crowd. By contrast, Jim Webb appeared diffident. …”

One of Hillary’s weirder responses was when she was asked how her presidency, if she wins, would not just become a 3rd Obama term.
Well that’s obvious, she responded. I’m a woman.
Huh?
All in all it was a very odd bunch, to be honest.
But Hillary did well enough that I suspect it might help Biden make a decision on whether or not to enter the race.
For now, it’s a Hillary vs. Bernie fight. And it pains me to say it, but Hillary would be (marginally) “better” than Bernie who is a strict, “true believer” ideologue with some really whacky ideas.
If you still pin for the far left of the 1960s & ’70s, you’ll love Bernie. 🙂 He was cute back then, I will say that. But I don’t think his politics have changed since then. Down with big business, down with rich people, up with free health care and college for all, including all undocumented people, higher taxes. Pretty simple message.

Ain’t nobody worse than Hillary.
Except Obama.

No. I didn’t watch the debate. I was watching Kelly until I gave it all up and went to bed just before 10:00 EDST.
I doubt that it was a real debate.

I was watching the Thunder game, but fellow Texans said Jim Webb reminded them of Marilyn Munster.

He seemed half asleep or something. No personality or energy.
But, yes, it was like that game, which item is not like the others?
He was the only one with a shadow of at least a few reasonable positions (he didn’t get a whole lot of applause), but still overall very unimpressive.

I tried watching but they are so irritating. The second lower tier debate of the Republicans was more interesting.

I think Mr. P nailed it on Jim Webb. His neck is stiff like he had a fusion or something.
