Prayer Requests 10-10-15

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 130

¹Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O Lord.

Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.

If thou, Lord, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?

But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.

I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.

My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning.

Let Israel hope in the Lord: for with the Lord there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption.

And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.

  1. I’m sorry, Karen. I know that hurts.

Thanks for your prayers, too, Karen, and anyone else who saw my prayer request from late last night. (My FIL is back in the hospital.)

A praise. There was a really loud noise coming from the laundry room this morning, even though nothing was running (washer, dryer, water softener, etc.) I didn’t know what the problem was, but there was a lot of vibration in some pipes down there.

I am very clueless about what to do when things like that don’t seem like they’re functioning as they should. Hubby generally takes care of that, but he was at the hospital visiting his dad when the trouble started here. I called him, and he helped me figure out what to unplug, and the noise stopped immediately. (The cord for the sump pump, I believe.)

Anyway, the plug was quite hot, to the point of slightly burning my thumb just grasping it for a second to unplug it. I’m fine, but I sure am glad we didn’t have a fire or something. Praise to God that some of us were home to detect the problem,, and that no one got hurt.

  2. Glad everything’s OK 6.

Praying Karen, sometimes things are said that sting so deeply (yet are not even noticed or given a second thought by the person who said them).

Prayers for my friend B whose sister in Atlanta had a stroke (pretty much out of the blue) and is in the hospital. B is flying back for 10 days (longer if needed) to help her brother-in-law, who just finished chemo, handle things at the house during the intense rehab time. Her sister is stabilized, can talk, but will need help in getting back on her feet and learning to walk again.

B is a very strong believer, I’m not entirely sure about the sister though she visits our church when she’s visiting and is in town. They were born/raised Jewish in L.A.

B is a great helper, she’ll be a blessing and a rock for them — prayers that recovery and rehab go quickly and well and that it will be a meaningful time for all spiritually.

  3. Prayer for daughter who just announced a long awaited pregnancy. She is concerned with losing the child. Prayer for wisdom and contentment and quick passing of morning sickness. Thanks.

  4. I was lucky, I guess, because although I had nausea, I didn’t have morning sickness.

Emily doesn’t seem to even know she said something hurtful.

Please pray for Lee’s bread truck to not need any more repairs for a while. He has put about $10,000 into that truck, including a recent $800+ for some structural work. Today he thinks he hears something strange, & fears it may be the transmission. 😦

I am praying that the truck holds together for Lee, but also for several months for the guy who is buying the route.

  5. Mumsee, what 6 Arrows said. My sister had several healthy pregnancies and a bunch of miscarriages, and she soon learned that “feeling good” during the early part of pregnancy was a bad sign (for her at least). Morning sickness is a sign that the pregnancy hormones are where they need to be.

  6. That’s generally been my experience, too, Cheryl (I almost called you Roscuro; your avatars are so similarly-colored!) — fairly to severely sick with my full-term pregnancies; hardly sick, or not at all, with my miscarriages.

  7. I was hardly sick with BG. I don’t think I ever had morning sickness. I figured I had so much trouble on the front end that God was being nice to me on the backend.
Congrats to daughter. May everything go well for her.

  8. I echo 6Arrows and Cheryl, morning sickness is a good sign. Although the jury is still out as to the causes of morning sickness, it has been observed to correlate to high levels of Human Chorionic Growth Hormone (HCGH) in the mother’s blood. HCGH is produced by the developing placenta as the baby implants in the uterus and establishes itself. So, the high levels of the hormone are evidence that the placenta has a good ‘take’ and the baby is establishing itself well. If it is the HCGH which is causing the woman to feel ill, that would explain why morning sickness is perceived to signal a healthy pregnancy.

  9. Roscuro, your statement about HCGH being produced by the developing placenta as the baby implants and establishes itself is correct. In my fifth pregnancy, the first time I miscarried, I had very mild morning sickness for two weeks (as I did with my full-term pregnancies), but then, right at the time the morning sickness noticeably ramps us (with my healthy babies), the morning sickness that time completely went away. Three weeks later, when I started spotting, an ultrasound showed that the placenta hadn’t developed normally, and the baby had died right around the time I stopped feeling sick.

With my second miscarriage, I never felt sick at all, and lost the baby about 5 weeks after conception.

Both of my miscarriages were in my forties, and in my two healthy pregnancies in my 40s, I experienced milder morning sickness than with my babies in my 20s and 30s, and never threw up with the ones after my first four.

So, in my experience anyway, I think I probably wasn’t producing as much HCGH when I was older. Perhaps that is part of the reason miscarriages are more likely as a woman ages?

  10. One of my midwives said there are a lot of things that develop with the baby around 6-7 weeks after conception. That is about when I started getting really sick.

It’s amazing and beautiful how God designed the body to (generally) produce more protective hormone at such a vulnerable time in the baby’s development.

  11. Tomorrow evening, Monday, we are having a community meeting. The Director has made a decision and will allow us to discuss it. But there doesn’t seem to be any idea that he will change his mind. Pray for God’s Spirit to control us all and that there will be love and unity displayed. It is upsetting to me and lots of others.

  12. My husband has a meeting this morning at the hospital regarding what’s next for his dad. He’s been bringing up blood, and can’t swallow. There is some blockage that needs to be removed, and other problems. He needs a temporary pacemaker put in, and I’m not sure of the order of everything that needs doing, and why. It sounds like a complicated mess — can’t do this until something else is done, but the something else can’t be done until… you name it.

He’s lost a lot of weight, and my husband worries that the more they do, the more it will weaken his dad. He is 86 years old.

He doesn’t say it, but I believe he’s thinking as I am (which I haven’t voiced, either), that we may not have Dad with us much longer. This year has been one long decline.

It’s hard, and we appreciate your prayers.

  13. Hmmm, she has more queasiness than actual vomiting and she has a pain in her left side. She is also an experienced nurse who has seen lots of things so can focus on the hard stuff and think the worst.

  14. The news wasn’t good with my father-in-law. Blockage in the esophagus. A blood clot in the lungs. Heart scarcely beating, so surgery is too risky. He will probably just go back to the nursing home and get a mostly or completely liquid diet.

I don’t know how to ask you to pray. Maybe that the blood clot would break up, and his vitals stabilize, so something can be done about the esophageal blockage?

Pray as the Lord leads you, and please remember my husband, too. He and two of his seven siblings are the main ones meeting with his dad’s caregivers. Wisdom and peace in the decision making. Thank you.

  15. Heavenly Father,

So many needs, and a lot of them are major rather than minor; You hear them all whether spoken or written. We know You are working out the details on each one. Thank You for knowing priorities when we don’t. Thank You that You put first priority in life to be knowing Jesus as Lord and Savior. Nothing compares to that in importance. I pray for any we know who need Jesus. Please hurry up their salvation. I pray for those suffering various afflictions that You would keep them from feeling any major pains. Please, if possible and according to Your plans, I ask that You will repair the bodies that have quit functioning as You designed them to function. I pray for the ones close to the suffering that You would give stamina and support to help as needed. Thank You for Your best answers for these situations.

Please help those here who are hurt by thoughtless comments and actions of others. I pray for the ability to let things pass over without sticking. Help people to be more thoughtful with words. May love cover a multitude of sins such as being careless with words. May Your forgiveness rule more in our lives than hurt feelings. Thank You for being our strength when we are vulnerable in these situations.

I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen
