Peter’s Pack of Pickled Pigskin Picks “15- Week 4

Put on your prognosticating shoes, folks. Ten more contests on the gridiron to guess the winner. I have included a Pillow Fight, between two teams that can’t seem to win very much. That game also gives Tychicus an extra Big 12 game. And don’t forget to predict the score of the Tie Breaker Game, which is a tough one this week. IBNO chose the Middle Tennessee at Illinois game, since he was last week’s winner. What’s so hard about it? Well, even though MidTen is in a minor conference (C-USA) and Illinois is one of the bottom feeders in the B1G 10, who can say who will win?

So there you are, fellow Wanderers. Have at it.

  1. Boise State @ Virginia (Friday ​7:00 EDT) – Mumsee’s Broncos visit the East Coast.

  2. #24 Oklahoma State @ Texas – The other Oklahoma school crosses the Red River.

  3. #3 TCU @ Texas Tech – Two tough Texas teams tangle together.

  4. Central Florida @ South Carolina – Gamecocks get a breather. Maybe.

  5. Navy @ Connecticut – Midshipmen go to the state where a lot of their ships are made.

  6. #9 UCLA @ # 16 Arizona – This one could decide the PAC-12 South.

  7. #25 Mizzou @ Kentucky – Can the Tigers continue to surprise the SEC?

  8. Mississippi State @ (unranked???) Auburn – Hmm. I wonder if Miss. St. can win at Auburn.

  9. (Pillow Fight) Kansas (0-2) @ Rutgers (1-2) – Jayhawks and Knights. Yawn.

10. Tie Breaker: Middle Tennessee @ Illinois (Guess the winner and the score.) – Some major schools need minor opponents in order to feel like they are having a good season.

Remember: pick winners of all games; guess the final score of the tie breaker, trying not to duplicate someone else’s guess; enter by 7:00pm EDT Friday.

    TB: Middle Tennessee @ Illinois – They are at home, and they have scored a lot of points against other smaller schools, so Illinois 45-38. (Middle Tennessee also is high scoring.)

    2. Texas. .I don’t care for longhorns, but I’m a fan of Charlie Strong. Wish he would come to Carolina.

    4. Gamecocks, of course. I really think they can do it. I understand they are starting a true freshman at QB.
    5. Navy. I think the midshipmen have it.
    6. UCLA
    7. I think Kentucky can upset the Tigers.
    8. Auburn. I’ve never liked Tigers, but have to go with them at home.

  25. Okay. I’ll admit it. Mumsee must be good at making us think she doesn’t know much about college football. Or she got help. She got 8 correct this week, but did not get the tie breaker game correct. But Tychicus also got 8 correct and got the tie breaker winner correct. Illinois won 27 to 25. Congratulations, again, Tychicus. Who’ll be the tie breaker next week?

    8 correct: Tychicus, and mumsee (Tychicus wins on tie breaker)
    7 – IBNO Jr (missed the tiebreaker score by 4 points!), Chas, IBNO and Janice
    6 AJ and Peter (I’ve got to stop going with my desires)
    5 kbells, Ricky and Travis

    Game results:

    TCU 55 T-Tech 52 (were there basketball hoops set up in the end zones? Or was this an arena football game with a 50 yard field?)

    UCLA 56 Ariz 30 (perhaps the mascot should be changed to Bruisers and Mildcats)

    Miss St 19 Auburn 9 (Another big upset in the SEC)

    Tie-breaker game: Texas at TCU would be fun, but I’ll give a nod to our West Texas crew and go with Baylor at Texas Tech in what should be a real pinball-machine matchup.

  27. My secret? I copied IBNO’s list except for Boise. And nearly copied his score for the tie breaker. In the past, this year, I have tried copying Tychicus, and combining Tychicus and IBNO. I admit it, I nearly cheated.
