I am in charge of scheduling the English service offering. I have someone scheduled for this week, but next week was a single week and I had no one scheduled. The following week is a joint service with the tok pisin service nd they will receive the offering. Also next week is a women’s retreat that I have decided to go to – just down the hill at the training centre, so I would have to find someone to put out the offering baskets, etc.
🙂 🙂 Yesterday I got an email that they had cancelled the service for next week. all of my problems are solved. They should have told me earlier, etc, etc. but because I will be gone and no one is scheduled – it is an unlooked for blessing.
😦 My water heater started leaking and I had to get a new one
😦 It cost $1321.51
🙂 I discovered the leak in the old one before it got bad. No damage was done.
🙂 You may not understand how fortunate that was. The water heater is in the unfinished portion of my basement. I seldom go there. I could have gone weeks and never known about the leak until something really bad happened. There is no exit for water in the basement and I would have had to pump the water out.
I had a man come out to do a routine yearly furnace tune up. He noticed the leak as he was checking the humidifier.
I had to call a plumber to make an appointment for someone to come out to install it. Maybe next week, I hoped..
She said that “JOE?” had just finished a job, and was having lunch. He would be out right after lunch.
I missed Lions, but got that job done.
🙂 I feel very fortunate
🙂 Bad things happen to me, but it seems that they happen at convenient times and places.
I fully expect that when I die, I’ll be killed in front of a funeral home.
🙂 All the excitement out in front of our house ending well. (see prayer thread from yesterday, if you want more info.
🙂 Good neighbors.
😦 People who post sensationalist cliff-hangers on fb, which no real explanation. I find this so self-centered and prideful. It particularly bothers me when it is done when the person knows that others who have had way too much bad news in their lives already. They do not deserve to be treated this way. I so want to say, “Grow up!”
😦 Hearing that the young woman (whose life was saved after a friend talked her mother out of aborting HER) has had three abortions.
😦 Trump fallout from the Iowa which we reported, but I wish we couldn’t have gotten an earlier and more complete run-up on.
😦 It all reminded me how much I hate political reporting. 🙂
🙂 I decided to re-launch the paper’s pets blog after the blog editor at one of our sister papers was good enough to restore it (the blog had someone vanished from existence on our website and I couldn’t even find any of the archives via google anymore). I posted two items yesterday and want to commit to posting 1 each day (M-F at least) to see if I can get back into a regular groove with it again. I’d become so burned out on it — and editors said the blogs don’t really bring us much reader traffic so there wasn’t any push to really do it if I didn’t want to anymore — that I just let it lapse completely about a year ago.
But I kind of miss it sometimes and figure I can “social” it out and get traffic that way. Posting 1 simple item a day shouldn’t be too time consuming but will be enough, I hope, to get me back into the routine. Then maybe I can even enjoy it again. 🙂
😦 Reminds me, I need to get back to the herding dog blog that offered me some freelance opportunities — as soon as I said I was interested, there was a tidal wave of (real) work and I’ve not had the energy on weekends to deal with it. But the extra money would be great and I think, once I figure out what they want, it’s something I wouldn’t have to spend too much time on producing.
🙂 😦 So much I want to get done today around the house.
🙂 I got to have meals with two of my brothers (and one sister-in-law) this week.
🙂 When my husband was taking me out for my first-ever Friday night date, he asked where I wanted to go and I said “Anywhere but Applebee’s.” Not that I dislike Applebee’s, but I thought of if as my “big brother restaurant” since there was one right off my exit in Nashville, and one older brother and one “adopted” older brother would occasionally call me and say that he was coming through town, and we’d have lunch at Applebee’s. Well, the brothers this week were two other brothers, but 🙂 both of the meals were at Appebee’s (in two different states).
🙂 My husband and I had a safe, short trip out of town (church business), and we’re now back home. For me it was much-needed “time off” (since it didn’t take sense to take the laptop for what would amount to at most a few hours of work), though for him it was hours of meetings and several hours of driving.
Cheryl – Does your husband work out of your home? For some reason, I have the impression that he does.
My dad often had his office at home, depending on the company he worked for at the time, but he also traveled a lot for business. When cell phones started to catch on, his company wanted him to get one. He refused. He said whatever they had to tell him could wait until he reached his motel & called in. He couldn’t do anything about anything while he was driving anyway.
😦 Speaking of change, we’ve been meeting in different places all summer for church (though mainly at 2 locations), but then today they changed the time on us (from 3 to 2 p.m.). I’d gotten up early today so took a nap and don’t have time to get to church by 2 now. Ugh. They’re messin’ with us.
🙂 Only (unless there’s another unexpected delay) one more week of that (and we’re back to 3 next Sunday, who can keep up?) — THEN on the 27th we should be back in our old (but remodeled) place for our regular 10 a.m. Sunday worship times.
I still would have rather we spent that money on an actual church building (not a leased office space we don’t even own), but that opportunity just doesn’t seem to be opening up (after some 20 years of the church trying).
🙂 I had a problem

That would be convenient.

I have had a couple different doctors whose offices have been right next to funeral homes. That doesn’t exactly foster confidence in the doctor. 🙂

Karen, sometimes, at that age, it’s the change of routine that is troublesome.
They want things to be the way they always are supposed to be.

I don’t blame him. I don’t much like change, either, especially big changes.
