  3. Chas, you are correct only I recently told Guy that he needed to put some WD40 on a lockbox and he said it gums up in the salty air at the beach and you have to use silicone spray. I know it is cliche’ but my grandfather sprayed WD40 on his knees. HE believed it workded.

  9. Good morning all. Chas, sometimes it takes baling wire. 😉

    Finally a day off, while the rest of you are laboring away. I have had 15 hrs of over time each of the past 2 weeks. I only have 36 hrs to work this week.

    Daughter is orienting at her new job. Will take Connor Matthew home with me so she can get in extra orientation hrs while the girls are at achool.

    Fall is definitely in the air. Green chile is being roasted all over. My favorite time of the year.

  11. That is why I filled out the application at William Sonoma. Retail, means keeping the person in front of me happy. It won’t tax my brain. I doubt they will text me at 6:30 in the morning or need me to do anything on an off day.

  12. Cute baby picture. I can’t see the header though. On this phone, it sorts looks like the baby has a wing, as in an angel wing.

    My new phone charger works much better. 🙂 Since it is black, maybe it won’t attract Miss Bosley. I have an insulated lunch box that I keep the surge protector, charger, and phone in when needed.

  13. This is baby J, whom I met for the first time this weekend. I asked his mother if I could get a picture holding him to share with the folks who had prayed.

    She got tears in her eyes and spoke with a rush of passion. “Yes. Please tell everyone how thankful we are for the prayers. He’s healthy and it made all the difference in the lives of our whole family.”

    Which is absolutely true. Surely you’ve heard me chanting with amazed joy: “The baby does NOT have hemophilia.” 1 in 2 chance and God answered the prayers.

    Really cute baby–dressed for the wedding just like his 6’7″ father–whom he resembles!

    Thank you all, so much for the prayers but also that by facilitating those prayers, I grew closer to this branch of my extended family.

  15. The geneologist would know that 1, 2, and 3 times removed stuff.

    (So would someone else who enjoys knowing obscure things that no one else does)

  17. Kim, William Sonoma sounds actually like a good (for-now) fit. I’ve only been in the local one here a couple times, it was like a fantasy land of beautiful kitchen and dining things.

    I think the one time I bought a (very nice) pot holder mitt, plaid. 🙂 Otherwise, I was “just looking.” Gorgeous, very cool stuff but pricey …

    One day down, the next one launching. I’ll be glad when this week is over. Too much drama to cover.

  22. I understand the 1st, 2nd cousin and the once or twice removed vocabulary. It all depends on the common ancestor. If you are the same number of generations away from said ancestor, use the 1st or 2nd, etc. If one of you is closer in generations, use the once, twice, etc. removed formula. My dad explained it to me. So, while in Florida, I met my first cousin (our we have the same grandfather and grandmother) and her children, who are my 1st cousins, once removed (their mother is my first cousin). It’s really rather simple when you learn it.

  24. I am at a point in my life where I don’t want to work 40+ hours a week and I don’t want too demanding. Clock in/clock out/go home sounds wonderful for a while. No taxing my brain and unlike some of the whipper snappers out there I can actually make change in my head and count it back to you properly without use of a computerized cash register.

  26. Hey, question for anyone who cares to answer. Do any of you have experience with abused women (or abused men, for that matter)? I want to run some stuff from a book I’m editing by someone who has some insights into that specific issue. I can see the red flags, but not necessarily how to reword to fix them and still say what the author is trying to say. If someone could e-mail me and/or ask me to e-mail them, that would be great. Thanks.

  28. Baby is in his outfit. His father wore a white shirt with that same light khaki suit and a pink bow tie. The two sisters, flower girls, wore adorable poofy pink dresses with flowers wreaths in their hair.

    The very tired mama was in a pink dress to match everyone else–but her clever sleeveless sheath was attached to the straps with velcro for easy nursing. I’d never seen anything like it before and not sure I would have had the nerve to wear it. (Mine were engaged and active nursers . . . )

    Truly a fantastic wedding. Bride is an event planner at a big deal hotel in LA and we had every amazing detail you could imagine. Kim would have adored this wedding.

    Candy bar, cigar bar, cappuccino bar, open bar, photo booth, extraordinary decorations, gorgeous table display, incredible food and the newly married couple led off on the dance floor with a choreographed number beautifully done. (See video on my FB)

    It was the pastor’s first wedding. He focused on Jesus and even read the passage out of Ephesians about wives respecting their husbands and husbands loving their wives.

    We were surprised. We had no idea this couple had such faith.

    In fact, the entire weekend was full of joyous and pleasant surprises, one after another. We’re all still living in the glow.

    The best part for me? Seeing so many members of my extended family. I didn’t get to talk to all of them, but we’ll be back for Thanksgiving and I’m so looking forward to it. God is at work in some of their lives and it’s intriguing.

    I’ve been the outlier for a very long time.

  30. It is Cheryl. The Muskoka region of Ontario, in between Georgian Bay (Lake Huron) and Algonquin Provincial Park (famous for its association with Canadian painter Tom Thompson:http://www.tomthomsonart.ca/) is noted for its beauty; and the city dwellers of southern Ontario resort thither in droves every summer. Technically, I’m not a city dweller, but I don’t often get a chance to kayak up a river.

  34. Alabama is just doing itself proud. Not only are we #1 in users of Ashley Madison but our 72 year old Republican Governor who has touted his family values stance and is a Deacon in his church has been having an affair with a 38-40 year old woman on his staff. THAT is why his wife of 50 YEARS filed for divorce. Ugh

  39. I’ve been at the Citizen Impact Religious Freedom seminar from lunchtime until 9:00 p.m. It was super inspirational. The former Atlanta Fire Chief, Kelvin Cochran, was the keynote. I hav3 attended two others in the past. Last year Allan West spoke. Tonight they had a video message prepared by Ted Cruz who was the only one of the candidates who responded to the request to be there. The former head of the SC GOP spoke, too. There were several other really good speakers and a panel of Christians serving in the GA state legislator. I think Citizen Impact wants to expand into other states so if anyone here is interested in their great ministry, you can look them up online.
