Tomorrow is Forrest’s first day of kindergarten. I am praying his teacher will be the right balance of firm & kind with him, & that he will always be drawn to the “good kids” as friends, & not the troublemakers or bullies. I’m also praying that he will not be a bully himself (not that he is now, just a precaution, so to speak).
My heart is breaking….the day has come. Not announcing this to anyone, especially on FB, but would appreciate your prayers…..we are losing a member of the household…her sweet face is by my name 😦
This came this morning…Just a few minutes ago I received the following text message on my phone from Sean Malone who leads Crisis Relief International (CRI). We then spoke briefly on the phone and I assured him that we would share this urgent prayer need with all of our contacts.
“We lost the city of Queragosh (Qaraqosh). It fell to ISIS and they are beheading children systematically. This is the city we have been smuggling food to. ISIS has pushed back Peshmerga (Kurdish forces) and is within 10 minutes of where our CRI team is working. Thousands more fled into the city of Erbil last night. The UN evacuated its staff in Erbil. Our team is unmoved and will stay. Prayer cover needed!”
Please pray sincerely for the deliverance of the people of Northern Iraq from the terrible advancement of ISIS and its extreme Islamic goals for mass conversion or death for Christians across this region.
Part of the same e-mail. It’s a long e-mail and I’m doing serious editing.
Prayer Request from Dan and Marilyn Wilson. Missionaries who are in the areas that are being attacked by ISIS are asking to be showered in prayer. ISIS has taken over the town they are in today. He said ISIS is systematically going house to house to all the Christians and asking the children to denounce Jesus. He said so far not one child has. And so far all have consequently been killed. But not the parents. The UN has withdrawn and the missionaries are on their own. They are determined to stick it out for the sake of the families even if it means their own deaths. They are very afraid, have no idea how to even begin ministering to these families who have seen their children martyred. Yet he says he knows God has called them for some reason to be His voice and hands at this place at this time.
Even so, they are begging for prayers for courage to live out their vocation in such dire circumstances. And like the children, accept martyrdom if they are called to do so. These brave parents instilled such a fervent faith in their children that they chose martyrdom. Please surround them in their loss with your prayers for hope and perseverance.
One missionary was able to talk to her brother briefly by phone. She didn’t say it, but I believe she believes it will be their last conversation. Pray for her too. She said he just kept asking her to help him know what to do and do it. She told him to tell the families we ARE praying for them and they are not alone or forgotten
Some people think that Jesus will come and deliver the church from tribulation.
That’s easy for those of us on the corner of Fifth Ave. and Washington St. to say.
Chas – That email has been going around on Facebook & in emails since about a year ago, &, as Snopes.com says, is not necessarily accurate.
The last paragraph is this link says…“The undated message about systemic beheadings of children in Queragosh lends itself to eternal forwarding, but as many have pointed out, much of the information is secondhand. There is little doubt Christians are being displaced and even persecuted in cities including Queragosh, but no reports of any incidents matching the claim of “systematic” beheadings have been confirmed.”
Nancy, I cried as I read this. I have written before of losing Beauregard the Duke of Marlowe aka Marlowe the Wonder Dog, Marlowe the Dog Faced Boy and most especially my first “baby”. He went to doggy heaven on February 19, 2003 and I have reached that age when I call the two current dogs MarloweAmosLulabelle.
This is for you, because your Beloved always knew her fate was safest in your hands. Your heart is breaking but the love and devotion will last. It hurts when they leave.
A Dog’s Prayer
Treat me kindly, my beloved master, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.
Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between the blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do.
Speak to me often, for your voice is the world’s sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footstep falls upon my waiting ear.
When it is cold and wet, please take me inside… for I am now a domesticated animal, no longer used to bitter elements… and I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth… though had you no home, I would rather follow you through ice and snow than rest upon the softest pillow in the warmest home in all the land… for you are my god… and I am your devoted worshiper.
Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for although I should not reproach you were it dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst. Feed me clean food, that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life, should your life be in danger.
And, beloved master, should the Great Master see fit to deprive me of my health or sight, do not turn me away from you. Rather hold me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest…and I will leave you knowing with the last breath I drew, my fate was ever safest in your hands.
Thank you all for your prayers..I barely got through the reading of your post Kim…thank you so much…she was the gentlest, sweetest dog I have ever known…all evening we have been crying and laughing over 13 years of memories…how I hate endings…she is now buried beneath the pines and feels no more pain…ours however remains…our Lord is the great comforter and He is here in the midst of our grieving…as she was dependent upon us so are we dependent upon Him…He is so good…and worthy to be praised…in all things. Thank you dear friends for caring ❤

I’m sorry Nancy. I vividly remember losing my two dogs.
That’s why I have a pet rock.
You will likely get another dog. My parents always did.

But, of course, the people being harassed & persecuted by ISIS & Boko Haram & other militant groups definitely do need prayer.

Nancy, I blinked back tears and then I went and hugged Misten. That’s a big loss, and it hurts even to think about it. I’m sorry.
