Prayer Requests 8-15-15

Anyone have a request or a praise they’d like to share?

Psalm 73

¹Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.

But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.

For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.

They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.

Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.

Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.

They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily.

They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.

10 Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them.

11 And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?

12 Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.

13 Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency.

14 For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.

15 If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children.

16 When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me;

17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.

18 Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.

19 How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.

20 As a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.

21 Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.

22 So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee.

23 Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.

24 Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.

25 Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.

26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

27 For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.

28 But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the LordGod, that I may declare all thy works.

  1. My dad is having trouble with his irregular heartbeat today, as he frequently does when the weather is hot and humid. The combination of that and his low blood pressure caused him to pass out this morning when he got up too quickly to answer the door when my sister-in-law went over to change my mom’s dressing. (She normally doesn’t knock, but my parents had forgotten to unlock the door ahead of time — thus the knocking, which moved Dad into [too quick] action.)

He came to immediately after hitting the floor, and is okay — good color returned to his cheeks soon after, and it doesn’t appear he injured himself in any way. My SIL had him sit on the floor for a while, and attended to him, then helped him to a chair. A bit later he got up from the chair and walked over to the couch without any dizziness.

Everything seems alright, but prayers are appreciated. Thanks.

  2. My personal belief has always been that if it is meant to be the path will be easy. I don’t buy into the “you must work hard for what you want” theory. Anytime I have battled my way to what I want I haven’t been happy with it once I got it.
I made an offer on a house and an obstruction popped up. I easily found another house we liked and made an offer on it. Everything has clicked right into place so I have to believe this is the path that is meant to be.
Would you all say a quick prayer that we are making the right decision?

  3. Kim – I kind of agree with your belief about the path to what is God’s will, but I have seen that sometimes, a lot of work is indeed involved. I think the difference is – Is the hard work being done according to my own will to make this happen? Or.. Is the hard work being prompted by the Lord? IOW, sometimes God gives us something on a “silver platter”, & other times He makes us put in some “sweat equity”. 🙂

  4. Heavenly Father,

You’ve already been so good today that there are not adequate ways to express thanks. And You’ll continue in Your good doing through the rest of this day and night with never getting all the thanks You deserve.

Thank You for watching out for 6 Arrows’ dad when he fell. It could have been awful instead of minor. Please help him to think before he leaps up now that You gave him the gentle warning. Help his body to get back to more normal functioning so he does not continue with the fainting. Also, I ask that You help the man at my church who recently had a similar fainting spell when he fell on his face. Please strengthen Ralph and make him steady.

Father God, thank You for protecting life in the area around Mumsee’s Nest. Comfort those with property losses. Please continue to give stamina to those fighting the fires and saving lives. Many are witnessing perhaps for the first time how fragile life is. May they learn through the experience to value You and Your gift of life more each day. Thank You for the good attitudes You have given to Mumsee, Mike, and family to share as an excellent Christian witness during these days of devastation.

Abba, thank You for blessing Kim and Mr. P. with the house best suited to their needs. May it contain much love, peace, and harmony. May it be an easy place to settle into with good neighbors who can be friends. I ask that You take away any second guessing on Kim’s part so she has no doubt that the best decision has been made. Please give them all complete contentment regarding this home.

Lord, I’ m not sure what is going on with Miss Bosley. Please help her to get better real fast. Did she chew on cords while I was at the office yesterday and critique group today? I have no idea. You know what the cause is. May this pass quickly through her whatever it is. Is it the new wet food? Again, You know. Please take care of her and help her to wellness.

I ask continuing blessings upon Annms and her family. You know all, and You see all. Whatever the need, please give Annms patience as You work to supply her need.

Please continue in Your working out Your good plans for Karen O and Lee. I again lift Emily and Chrissy for Your working in their hearts to bring them to know, love, and share Jesus. Please let salvation quickly be essential to their life stories. Thank You for giving Forrest a chance to be in church. You worked out that prayer request. Thank You. Please continue to help Forrest with school adjustment. And please continue to help R. to get right with You,and become a good father and consistent in meeting his share of obligation. May he be enabled to learn how to be a good father and good example to Forrest. Please, I ask for Forrest’s needs on that.

Thank You again for Your ever listening ears and Your heart that cares. I know You are at work on these requests before they are even spoken in words. You are just that loving, kind, good, and omnicient. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen

  5. I was thinking more on what I wrote earlier. What came to mind was how far Abraham had to travel to attain what God had for him (including being asked to be willing to sacrifice his son), the stuff Moses had to go through before he saw the Promised Land, & what David had to go through before he was finally made king. There are more examples, of course.

But I understand what you mean, Kim. If we are trying to work things out in our own wisdom & strength, we will often fall on our faces, or end up in a bad situation we never wanted. I have to remind myself sometimes not to try to figure everything out, nor try to fix everything.

  6. My father-in-law is not a young man, and his health is fragile. He continues to live at home, being cared for by mom, but periods in which he is hospitalized every week or two for a day or two are not uncommon. Medical personnel and family have agreed Mom cannot care for him alone (he is heavier than she is and subject to falling, and there is simply too great a chance that they will both get hurt), so round-the-clock care was determined to be needed. Mom and Dad rejected outright a temporary stint in a nursing home (and I admit I don’t like that idea much, either, partly because it’s unlikely to be temporary), so family is taking turns for a day or two and we’re hoping we can get professionals involved Monday. (My sister-in-law and one daughter have both been trained in care for the elderly.)

We really don’t want to see him continue to deteriorate (physically but also mentally) and be harder and harder for Mom. They had their 60th anniversary this summer (they married as teens) and as much as we’d like him to live long enough for our girls’ future milestones, we know he won’t (if he’s still alive a year from now, he’ll certainly be bed-bound or wheelchair-bound), and we don’t want to see him suffer and decline. He resists the hospital, but he has multiple diagnoses of things wrong with him, and frequent hospitalization comes with that, unfortunately, at this point. He and Mom are both believers.

  7. Please pray for relief from allergies. Right now they are making it very hard to sleep. It got hot today when I was cooking and folks were coming over, so I made the mistake of opening all the windows. Now I am paying for it. Hoping the Flonase helps.

  8. Jo, husband says they come in different milligrams so perhaps you got the lower dose this time. One is five hundred, the other seven fifty. They both say to take two but when you do that, one is giving you fifteen hundred and the other only one thousand. Might that help? Praying…

  9. Please pray for this week’s camp – 12 to 14 year olds. We have several girls that have been bullied coming and the bullies are also coming. Please pray that our staff will have discernment to see if anything is happening in that regard. Please pray for the salvation for this whole group of girls. Please pray for their parents as well. I was having an email conversation with one mother who inadvertently (I suspect) sent me an email she had intended for another parent and it was quite derogatory of one of the other girls. How will these girls learn how to behave when their moms are just as bad at bullying?

I’m also feeling quite under the weather and need to be at the top of my game for today’s registration which starts in 4 hours.

    Thank you.

  10. Mumsee – Six hour infusion? Sounds like when my mom was on chemo (for ovarian cancer, to which she eventually succumbed). Every three weeks, she would have to go in for 6 hours or more of infusion. I went with her to keep her company, & I brought snacks & reading material. We’d talk for quite a while, then she’d get tired & nap, & I would read.

  11. Husband is on his own. He could have taken a couple of children but elected to take a vacation instead. He has a book. He forgot to take a movie. He will survive.
