  1. The quote reminds me that the other day I was listening to one of my personal radio stations on my phone. It started playing Chapter 7 of a book about the Statler Brothers. The one with the really deep voice was the one reading it. He talked about hot they traveled with Johnny Cash. How they didn’t drink so they wouldn’t allow a beer or alcohol company to sponsor them, which sometimes meant they paid their own way.
He also talked about playing at Billy Graham Crusades, telling of one time when they really needed to leave early so they could catch a flight back to Virginia and Graham told them to go. Almost as an aside he said that Billy Graham was just as good a man in life as he was behind the pulpit. I cannot think of a higher compliment that could be given. Just a matter of fact delivery of “oh by the way….”

    Good morning everyone but Jo.
    It’ FRIDAY!
    You know what that means?
    Lions today, for one thing.
I went out and started watering my grass before I came in. We were promised rain for the last two days. I got two drops. Maybe two more that I didn’t see. Dry weather is forecast for the weekend, so I got out the hose. First time this year. 😦

  3. Kim, the Statlers have a song called “We Got Paid by Cash”. You would like it. I told you before how Billy Graham’s associate evangelist was in Columbia. He came by to speak to about a dozen college students in Elvera’s apartment one Sunday evening. And, another time, a bunch of guys in Preston Hall at Carolina. Several guys were saved there. Including Don Johnson, the Gamecock fullback.

  4. Yes, Chas, it’s Friday. And a hot one it’s going to be. Our seasonal weather is over (mid-80s, 50-60% humidity), now we’re getting the extra hot, humid stuff for several days. Glad I spend most of the day in a 52° cave!

  5. Some of those cartoons were really good.
I see in the paper that there is and “earth cousin” 1400 light years out.
    1400 light years
Do all those people getting excited realize how far 1400 light years is?
    A clue:.
The picture we see of that planet left the planet in 615 A.D.

  6. Miss Bosley’s half-closed eyes are saying “I love you & I trust you.” It’s such a sweet expression to see on a kitty’s face. The fact that she’s on her back, with her belly exposed, is another clue to her trust.

  7. Chas, I thought the same thing about the planet. So, are people actually planning on visiting there next week? They are a bit late for departure.

  8. I’m having trouble waking up. I need to leave in an hour for my cousin’s — movie and mid-afternoon lunch planned.

It’s been a fun week off but almost too busy, I didn’t get things done around the house at all. Next stay-cation is going to have to include fewer daily plans!

Rub a cat on his or her belly at your own risk. I learned that as kid with one of our cats — when all four clawed paws flashed up and dug into my arm, not letting go. Ouch.

  9. Good lunch time! I need to go to the office and check out that photo of Bosley. The flowers were at a Cracker Barrel where we had lunch and I found a new quilt throw on sale at 40% off. Miss Bosley claims it for her own. This morning I found a phone charger cord I had put in the bathroom trashcan out on the floor. How dare me to throw away her broken charger with the beautiful artistic tooth imprints?

  10. I can sometimes pat Miss Bosley’s tummy when she is calm and going to sleep. But most of the time she thinks it’s a chance to play kick, scratch, and chomp. Friday is #jellybellyFriday on Twitter when people post pictures of cats, usually fat ones, showing their tummies. Wednesday is #Whiskers Wednesday, and Saturday is #Caturday, Monday is #KittyLoafMonday, and Tuesday is #TunaTuesday. In general people post their cat photos to #CatsOfTwitter. I knew y’all would love to hear about that for use in Trivial Pursuit games.

  11. Fun day out with the cousin. And I guess I don’t get out to the movies too much anymore, the movie theater we went to actually had super-cushy-soft leather (or faux leather) couches and love seats scattered about instead of chair-seats. It was like you were in someone’s living room.

“Love & Mercy” was very good, better than I expected.

  12. Donna, I’ve never attended a theater that wasn’t just a theater. I assume you tweeted your experience to the world so that they will know you’re “with it”?
