I’ve mentioned before that Lee has occasionally had blood in his urine. Last night, around 2am, there was more than usual, followed by some coagulated blood, & that followed by more blood.
He told me about it, & we cried & prayed together.
Since then, the blood seems to be clearing from his urine, but we don’t know if that signals the end of it, or is merely a temporary reprieve. He’ll be calling his urologist soon.
Another thing – The closing on the sale of his route, which was supposed to happen today, has been postponed for a couple weeks or so due to a family situation with the buyer, Ralph, who asked for prayer.
Weeping with you, Karen, and understanding the fear and praying that God’s peace would descend upon your household, giving each of you comfort and faith to see what God has planned. May He use this to glorify Himself and give you joy in waiting upon Him.
In an encouraging bit of news–many will remember my daughter is working as an EMT at night in east LA. Donna can fill you in on what that means.
As the only woman on the shift, her rig is the one called for transporting all the female psych patients–there needs to be a woman. She says most of the time the patients are sleep (it’s night time) and don’t cause trouble, though she had a challenging one last week, I think.
Anyway, it’s shift work and she has trouble staying up so late and has been asking to be put on the day shift. We’ll see what comes of that.
In the meantime, she plans to go to Nicaragua for 10 days with our annual church eyeglass ministry. She’s running a research project and it’s important for the medical school applications.
I asked her how she was going to get off work for 10 days only 6 weeks after starting, but she wasn’t worried about it. Since I’m on the hook for the non-refundable plane tickets, I was a little concerned.
My husband and I both encouraged her to check in with the person who figures out the shifts, early rather than later (she leaves two weeks from SUNDAY!) and she texted me last night that it only took 15 minutes and she’s all set. Adding, for good measure, “God is good!”
So, praise the Lord for that one.
It will be interesting to see what comes of this trip. CR is the only “medical” person on the trip which includes only two men and 10 women scrambling in the wet season to remote villages in old jeeps.
Michelle, I have two friends who’ve had to put a relative in the psych ward just within the last month (brief stays in both cases, a few days or a week), so blessings on your daughter for doing such necessary care.
Sorry it’s taken me a while to get back here to update you. The doctor didn’t call back until the end of the day, & then we were busy with Forrest & such, & then I temporarily forgot.

For now, he urged Lee to reschedule the bone scan (to check for malignant tumors) & to get the second Lupron shot that he had put off getting (the shots are close to $10,000!). Lee is going to make those appointments tomorrow.
It’s been a difficult day emotionally for Lee, & for me, too. I have more to write, but I’ll save it for tomorrow.

Thank you all. Still waiting on the doctor to call him back. (Lee has called the office a couple times, once leaving a detailed message with someone.)
