  2. Good Morning. Where has the year gone???? In 10 days one of my very best friends will be 60! I met her when she was 49. She and Amos have the same birthday and give each other gifts. He usually gets chicken jerky treats from her and he gives her something with a crab on it. I buy her other presents. Her oldest daughter is taking her to Egypt as a birthday present. I won’t be joining them.

    I thought I would share this nice little article on Mobile and the Eastern Shore with you. Peter, I am willing to take you to Spot of Tea or Wintzell’s (although I know where there is better seafood) but I draw the line at hanging out at Veet’s with you.

  4. Yes, that is a beautiful header photo that I can see because I am at the office with the really large monitor screen!

    I am missing my second cup of coffee since I only had time for one before we left. We have been listening to the Audiobook, The Song, based on the movie with the book written by Chris Fabrey. It is a book I have for review. I am also listening to Empire’s End (on CD) by Jerry Jenkins. Both are good. It is nice to have the CDs, but when I am driving on the expressway it is difficult to change them out. Does anyone here have a preference for owning the CDs over buying Audiobooks that are in the Cloud?

Kim- If I could convince D3 to come along (she won’t unless someone her age goes with us, i.e.- her favorite cousin), we’d want to tour the battle ship and Civil War (oh, sorry, “War of Northern Aggression”) battle sight, as she is interested in all things naval and CW/WNA related. Mrs L doesn’t particularly care for sea food, but I love it. If we go (and it’s looking less and less likely) we’ll let you decide on where to meet for lunch.

  7. I had to read the clip to find out what Veeps is. Naah!
    For historic ships, the USS Yorktown (WW II aircraft carrier) is in Charleston, along side a nuclear sub.
    I had to visit the Yorktown to find out what it was. I knew the Yorktown was sunk at Midway. Turns out, the named another carrier the Yorktown. It was in the Marianas Turkey Shoot.

  8. This is one of the ways I most frequently pray for folks: “that truth will be revealed.”

    The older I’ve gotten, the more convinced I am that I am merely a tool of the Holy Spirit. I don’t need to tell you how to do anything, I need to pray that the HS would convince you of truth. What good does it do me to guess at your issues, if the HS not only knows them, but has a plan to show the answer to you?

  9. Decided to do a little break-out, sidebar piece on the flag for that story I’ve been working on … Kind of one-sided as it stands, though. I’ll take another look at it today, it’s supposed to run tomorrow.

    Meanwhile, we got a video & photos of the Confederate flag display at the Civil War museum in our area, featuring the curator explaining the different versions.

    Seems like the recent round of layoffs is over with at the paper (as the new fiscal year as now dawned, for better or worse). They’re “saying” that after 7 years of nothing but a pay cut we “may” get (small) raises in 2016. Maybe. Sigh. I’m not holding my breath, but anything would be welcome. Of course with our luck, it would probably coincide with an uptick in our medical premiums … 😦

  13. Well, I just sent AJ some photos, mostly birds but a couple that aren’t. “Missed” the best photos this week, though, due to not having my camera with me. A group of four bucks and a hawk on the ground. Well, that’s life, but it would have been nice, in particular, to get the bucks since I really don’t have good ones of them, and a group of them together is especially nice. Oh well.

  14. If there are no unforeseen complications, the closing for the sale of Lee’s route to Ralph will be on July 22, two weeks from tomorrow. 🙂

    Then, during the first week of August, Lee will be running a route while the owner is on vacation.

    The owner he’ll be filling in for is Ralph. Yup, he’ll still be working on his route, but it won’t be “his” anymore. He can’t get away from it! 🙂

    (Ralph’s wife booked this vacation months ago.)

  19. Thanks, 6! Now we have to pray that a good job will come along soon. I’ll admit, Lee & I are a bit nervous about that, but trying to keep trusting God.

    Sigh. Seems like everything is just so broken sometimes.
