Emily is having a tough day with Forrest, & is very angry at him (rightfully so for the trouble he got into). Praying for God to prompt her, in her frustration & distress, to call out to Him for help, & that she will be aware of His reality & presence. (Yes, I’ve mentioned this same kind of prayer before, & I probably will again.)
Also, please pray for Chrissy & me, as we will be doing a lot of babysitting over the next few weeks, due to a change in Emily’s work circumstances. She has taken on more hours, which of course, adds more hours to our babysitting. Neither Chrissy nor I feel up to babysitting more than we already do. (With Chrissy’s Asperger’s, some of my stress comes from her reactions when she is “stressed out” by Forrest. Unfortunately, neither of us want to watch him without the help of the other.)
Emily is applying for a program that pays a certain amount towards daycare or a babysitter, & then will be able to find someone to watch Forrest for part of the time each week. (Chrissy & I will still be watching him a number of hours each week (especially the nights she has classes, & on Saturday), but that will take some of the burden off of us.
Of course, I feel a bit guilty for feeling like my grandson is ever a burden, but he is at a difficult age, & he is very impulsive & active. He’s a little boy! And he spends a lot of time down here, too, even when I’m not babysitting him, so I put a lot of time & love into that little guy.
Please pray for my daughter as she is stressed doing her practicum, her car has been broken into twice in the last couple of months and today she had a slashed tire. She’s tired and having a bad day. Thanks.
Karen O, easy to say but maybe not so easy to do, but you don’t need to feel guilty. Small children are difficult and that is why they are given to younger people. And as he is not yours all of the time, he has behaviors that you have not set into play. It is not only understandable but expected that he is wearing you out. He is Emily’s responsibility, she chose to do what brought him along. R’s as well but he is not there yet. You help where you can but Emily getting a babysitter is fine. I don’t believe it is the ideal, but neither do I believe that wearing out the family is best either.
