Prayer Requests 4-18-15

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 116

¹I love the Lord, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications.

Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.

The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.

Then called I upon the name of the Lord; O Lord, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.

Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.

The Lord preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me.

Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee.

For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.

I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living.

10 I believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted:

11 I said in my haste, All men are liars.

12 What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits toward me?

13 I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord.

14 I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all his people.

15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.

16 O Lord, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.

17 I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the Lord.

18 I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all his people.

19 In the courts of the Lord‘s house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye the Lord.

  1. Diving into angels today . . . I think I’m going to look up and sort all 250 mentions of them in Scripture to get a better idea. Electronics makes that easier, but it will still take a while. Thanks for prayers.

  2. I’m feeling a real heaviness this afternoon over Norma (could she possibly be even thinner now than last time I saw her? 😦 ) and other friends going through such difficult times right now.

But I was reading some more of “Thriving in Babylon” a little while ago and was reminded:

“God provides us with what we need when we need it. He gives dying grace to dying men. … We walk by faith. … He has a just-in-time delivery system. He’s never a day late. He’s never a day early. … If we claim to be followers of Jesus, there’s never a good reason for panic. God loves a mess. After all, it takes a mess to have a miracle.”

I’d add, miracles sometimes, but more often it’s simply the grace & strength to carry on and to do the next thing — right when we need it, not before.

  3. Someone else already sorted the angel verses, which saved me a lot of time. I then redid Tuesday’s study, discovered it wasn’t as bad as I thought, added a page about Jesus’ interactions and words on angels, and I’m done.

I’m now working ahead the next two weeks on demons, but I think I’m going to substitute/add a Bible study lesson or two from the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod on demons to make sure I’m square with the church’s theology.

I’ll then move into how to deal with spiritual warfare using Ephesians.

I suspect I may have been under a bit of spiritual attack myself.

    Thanks for prayers.
