Prayer Requests 4-17-15

It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.

Anyone else?

Psalm 115

¹Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake.

Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is now their God?

But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.

Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.

They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not:

They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not:

They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat.

They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them.

O Israel, trust thou in the Lord: he is their help and their shield.

10 O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord: he is their help and their shield.

11 Ye that fear the Lord, trust in the Lord: he is their help and their shield.

12 The Lord hath been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron.

13 He will bless them that fear the Lord, both small and great.

14 The Lord shall increase you more and more, you and your children.

15 Ye are blessed of the Lord which made heaven and earth.

16 The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord‘s: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.

17 The dead praise not the Lord, neither any that go down into silence.

18 But we will bless the Lord from this time forth and for evermore. Praise the Lord.

  1. I’m struggling with this Angel bible study. The study itself is weak and I don’t trust the author. I don’t like the facile implications of the questions and it’s requiring an inordinate amount of study. I will probably spend the weekend trying to figure things out–which may not be a bad thing.

The pastor who oversees me is out of town this week, and I’m uneasy as we head into demons next week.

So, prayers for wisdom and clarity, but mostly that I don’t misrepresent this important topic. We thought we where getting into something light and easy after Jeremiah. I feel like I’ve fallen into a quagmire. 😦

  2. Praise — Carol got moved into her new assisted living facility yesterday (in Hollywood) and she says it’s very nice, the people are friendly (although her roommate is deaf, which poses some challenges). When I asked her if it was better than her last place (which truly was a dump and not in a very good area at all) she said, “Yes, better by about 1,000%.” She’s looking forward to exploring the new neighborhood in the next few days.

  3. Thanks Karen, I feel pretty good about it. And while it’s a bit of a drive on a congested freeway for me to get there (I’m going to buy into the city’s toll lane system that should help avoid some of the congestion), I’m kind of looking forward to getting reacquainted with Hollywood — my parents lived there when I was born & I worked there for several years out of college; I used to go there semi-regularly all through my teens & 20s-30s, but I haven’t had a reason to go there too often lately.

And Carol says it looks like there are a couple Mo. Synod Lutheran churches nearby, which is great — and her facility also is just a couple blocks away from Hollywood 1st Pres., which was Zamperini’s home church. I’m really hoping she can get hooked into a good conservative Lutheran church that’s convenient and close enough for her since she needs transportation or would have to walk.
