Prayer Requests 2-27-15

It’s Friday, so don’t forget to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.

Anyone else?

Psalm 72

¹Give the king thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness unto the king’s son.

He shall judge thy people with righteousness, and thy poor with judgment.

The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the little hills, by righteousness.

He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor.

They shall fear thee as long as the sun and moon endure, throughout all generations.

He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: as showers that water the earth.

In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth.

He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth.

They that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him; and his enemies shall lick the dust.

10 The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents: the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.

11 Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him.

12 For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper.

13 He shall spare the poor and needy, and shall save the souls of the needy.

14 He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence: and precious shall their blood be in his sight.

15 And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba: prayer also shall be made for him continually; and daily shall he be praised.

16 There shall be an handful of corn in the earth upon the top of the mountains; the fruit thereof shall shake like Lebanon: and they of the city shall flourish like grass of the earth.

17 His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed.

18 Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things.

19 And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen.

20 The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended.

  1. Lee called a little while ago. He feels the sickness coming on. He threw up at one of his stops (in the restroom, thankfully). Please pray it doesn’t hit him hard, & that God helps him recover quickly. (I’m still not feeling too well myself.) This thing really drains one of energy & strength.

  2. Praying, Karen.

Please pray for the daughter (B) of my best friend. B is a first-year teacher in one of our synod schools and received word on Monday not to return Tuesday (there was already a substitute teacher arranged to take her class the next day), and that she should resign and turn in everything belonging to the school by Thursday at noon, or face unspecified consequences.

The letter she was handed stated that there were a couple families whose children were in her class who were threatening to withdraw the children from the school if she continued on as a teacher there.

B is devastated. She did resign, but does not know what is next. She is single, living alone, six hours from her family, and with no job. (She is on paid leave, however, through the end of the school year, thankfully.)

I hurt for this young woman. She is a former piano student of mine, and is one of the sweetest young ladies you’d ever want to know. She got a really rough class, with several disruptive students who were at an age more than willing to take advantage of a new, inexperienced teacher.

It really makes me angry that at a Christian school, of all places, she would be thrown under the bus like that — not given any opportunity to address the concerns these parents had and try to work with the parents and school to remedy whatever problems they thought were present, before being basically told, get out or else.

I know B’s mom, K, would really appreciate your prayers, too, for wisdom in how to help her daughter through this.

    Thank you for your prayers.

  3. Sounds like a very sad situation, 6. I am sure it will take some time to recover from the hurt.

Hope your husband heals quickly, Karen. That is tough. I have been glad I haven’t had to be out working. I’m tired of tired and other symptoms, but at least I don’t have be at a job every day.

  4. I think B has dealt with depression in the past, too, so it always kind of scares me when I hear about major trials like these for those who have been (or currently are) in a down time when disaster hits.

She grew up in a strong and loving Christian home, though, and knows that she is precious in the Lord’s sight. That is a comfort to me, to know she’s been raised to know that.

It still can be a challenge, however, for all of us, and especially, I think, when we were young (B is 23) to easily accept the sovereignty of God.

I sure appreciate all of your prayers on her behalf.

  5. I’m not sure yet if Lee will be going on his route tomorrow. He says he is, & has lined up a friend of a friend to ride along with him to help him out. (Of course, that’s going to cost him some money to pay the guy.) But I know how weak & exhausted he’s going to be when midnight rolls around & it’s time to get up.

I also know that he can push himself to get the work done. He’s done it before. That’s admirable, but not always wise.
