Quote of the Day

Yes, it’s true, I’ve been called the Laurence Olivier of spoofs. I guess that would make Laurence Olivier the Leslie Nielsen of Shakespeare.”

  1. Good morning, everyone. I’m going on Becca’s field trip today. I missed the last one due to illness, so am very thankful to be able to attend this one.

Sorry I’ve been gone so much; thanks for all the birthday wishes back on the sixth. I had a lovely day!

  2. Good morning. I am headed to the beach today to teach a class. I may also have to the other end of the county later to try to find office space. I moved out of the office I was in and into the Commercial office yesterday afternoon. I have gone back to putting associate Broker on my emails.

Life changes. Stagnant water grows mold and mildew and other ickiness.

  3. Good morning! It is starting out to be a pretty day here. Last night the weather had a good bit of chill in the air, but wasn’t too cold. It was reminding me of when I was in my early twenties and would take long walks in the evening with my father who needed exercise because of his diabetes. We would walk two or three miles. My mother would go with us for the shorter walks. It was a nice time of getting to know my parents better as adults after having been through the teenage years and negative thinking toward parents that those years bring. Do any of you take long walks with family members outside of hikes during vacations? Husband and I took long walks when younger, and son and I have taken some neighborhood walks when he was younger.

  4. I am. I am also still fulfilling some obligations to the company. It’s the whole serving two masters limbo.
Mr P is also upset because Guy has called 5 times since 7:15

  5. Good Morning….we have snow…the heavy wet stuff…good for making a snowman….or snowballs! Paul and I strolled through the neighborhood last night…3 miles, lightly snowing at 10:00…so wonderfully still and quiet… 🙂

  6. My husband and I often take walks. However, I seldom walk outside this time of year. It is too slippery and cold usually. I would rather walk on my treadmill. (Plus, I can read at the same time!) He still walks outside and just shortens his walk when it gets too cold. He also walks slower than I do and it is difficult for me to get my heart rate up. Sometimes I will go on the treadmill and we will walk together later. Usually we walk right down our roads and those close to us. Sometimes we will go to a trail.

  7. My husband and I take walks, though usually not in the winter. We will sometimes walk in the winter, sometimes window shopping in the mall as an excuse to walk a bit. We haven’t been out in ages now, though. Between his being sick and my being sick and him having almost too much work to do, we haven’t done anything like that, though we should.

  8. My mom and I used to walk the dogs together when I was in high school. When I started college, I often worked at night at the Sears so she’d wait until I got home from that and we’d head out late (after 9).

Later, after I’d moved out, we would still do the dog walk together when I’d come over for Sunday dinner. Lots of special memories of those night walks, I think we probably started when my dad got so sick with cancer in my sophomore year (which would have been around the time we got our first dog). It provided a little escape for just the two of us, a peaceful way to close out the day.

As we walked and meandered through the neighborhood, my mom would often make comments about this or that house, whenever she noticed someone had painted or put up a new fence or had been working on their garden. And she’d remark just in general on her favorite houses pretty regularly. 🙂

What’s funny is I find myself doing the same thing now, even though I walk alone (and I don’t make my comments out loud).

  9. All I see are branches and leaves.

I am sure that is a beautiful view, Kim. Mine is evergreens frosted by snow, leafless trees–one with red crabapples, snow on the ground, birds and squirrels. We also have sun, which means it is cold.

  10. Ah, ha, that’s what’s going on. I stared at it quite a while as well.

We walked to a restaurant for dinner the other night–I live in a housing area–and then home in the starry night. I love nights like that.

  11. No snow on our mountains, but you can see the Hollywood sign clearly from all the wind we’ve been getting (causing high surf but also very warm — 85-degree — temperatures today).

Earlier, I was trying to take notes as the mayor spoke at an event I covered — but my view kept getting blocked by the TV reporter next to me who was (in a study of body type contrasts as my shoulder hit about at her waistline) about 7 feet tall, reed-pencil thin, wearing what appeared to be a spandex dress & very high heels.

She also had a head full of red ringlets that kept bouncing into and blocking my view of the mayor.

  12. I had planned to go to Albuquerque today, but we have snow and cold wind. Instead, I stayed home and got my tax stuff together to take to the tax lady. I am feeling quite satisfied with what I accomplished today. It is a load off my mind.
