Prayer Requests 2-10-15

Anyone have a request or praise to share?

Psalm 56

¹Be merciful unto me, O God: for man would swallow me up; he fighting daily oppresseth me.

Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: for they be many that fight against me, O thou most High.

What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.

In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.

Every day they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil.

They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.

Shall they escape by iniquity? in thine anger cast down the people, O God.

Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?

When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me.

10 In God will I praise his word: in the Lord will I praise his word.

11 In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.

12 Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee.

13 For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?

  1. Heavenly Father,

You are our God Who gives hope. Two things we can hope for regarding Linda’s MIL are a miraculous healing, shrinkage, and disappearance of that inoperable tumor. It is not beyond You to do the seemingly impossible to gain glory for what only You can do. We also have the longer term hope of heaven for those who put their faith in Jesus. Your word inform that You want all people saved, and that includes this MIL. So we place our hope and trust in You. Please show Yourself mighty and strong to save in the short term and long term. You will receive glory, honor, respect, and love in abundance. Is that the reason You have allowed this inoperable brain tumor to happen? Is this one path to eternal salvation? All praise to You for the many arenas You are advancing in today. In Jesus I offer my prayers alongside others who pray here. Amen

  2. Linda, I’m so sorry. Praying for healing and, barring that, a good course of medical treatment that will manage and contain any further advance of the tumor.

  3. Prayers for a co-worker (I mentioned her a few weeks back, she’s in her 30s, the daughter of a mainline/liberal Presby pastor from back east but is not religious and has little background in the Christian faith aside from the “social” gospel; she seems to be probing on occasion when we’ve talked in the recent past).

As we were walking out together last night she just blurts out, right out of the blue, “I’m half way through Genesis.” Huh? I asked what brought that on and she said she’d never read the Bible and thought she should. I shared that I began with the New Testament when I was where she was, but she said she wanted to begin at the beginning. So be it.

Pray that this is truly God leading her onward (as He did in my first readings of the Scripture, as difficult as some of it was to grasp — because it was God’s calling, I never completely gave up no matter how obscure some of it seemed, I just kept plugging along). Wading through the OT is tough businesses, but if she is really being called, she’ll find her way over all those speed bumps and persevere.

And pray for me. Of course I’m so tempted to start sending her references, etc., but I realize I need to hold back and allow her to explore on her own, hoping she feels comfortable enough to come to me if she has questions.

  4. Stay with her Donna. Most people who start reading straight through the Bible get bogged down in the ancestry and laws and give up. It’s hard for me to plow through. She needs to understand that most of that only applies to serious scholars of the OT.

  5. Heavenly Father,

Thank You for hearing Your children praying. We are all adults here, but You probably always think of us as Your little ones. You are beyond our comprehension in greatness and any measurement of size. We are presently confined to our bodily frames that You set us into as we grew from conception. Thank You for AJ’s mom and the blessing she brought into the world and raised to be the fine man we all appreciate so much daily. Please give her Your favor for her surgery. Bless her with healing. Please keep all the family strong. May they all have a reason to rejoice from a successful surgery.

Abba, You have set the path to salvation before Donna’s friend. Please give her devotional help to see her through the dry parts of the Old Testament. I ask that her spiritual inner eyes and ears will be fully open to see all and hear all You have for her. Please expand her attention and understanding. Help her to reach out to Donna for good and edifying help when needed. I pray she will soon know Jesus as Lord and receive Your gift of faith with gladness.

Thank You for how You are working in the life of Linda”s MIL. Please help my friend K to heal up from her infection. Please continue healing Tom from his surgery. Please help things to go smoothly for my husband with this demanding time of the year. In Jesus’ name, Amen
