It’s Thursday, so please remember to pray for the folks in PNG.
And for Jo, as she leaves for Hawaii.
Anyone else have something to share?
Psalm 44:1-8
¹We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.
2 How thou didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plantedst them; how thou didst afflict the people, and cast them out.
3 For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.
4 Thou art my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob.
5 Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.
6 For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.
7 But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us.
8 In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Selah.
He said Pray for Jo, not envy Jo.

I always pray for a safe and uneventful trip. All of my trips, so far, have been safe, but not uneventful. Events on trips are usually not good.

But we should look at events as adventures. 🙂 Some of my most fun travel stories had to do with “events” — like the time I got turned around in a rental car and drove all the way back to one state when I was trying to go to another state to catch a flight.
As a result, I got to spend a night in a town I hadn’t had time to stop in before — and the flight was changed without a problem.
Events are a pain at the time, but often wind up being good.

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your unchanging nature. So many things happen in human life that cause people to willingly or unwillingly go through changes. Especially as people get older, there are required changes based on ailments and disease people would rather not have. Please help those who are suffering from various pains today. Ease the pain, inflamation, and distress of not being able to function as desired. Help those who struggle with the winter blues, or from depression in general, or other family members problems in that regard. Please lift the spirits of all here who feel such weights of the worries over finances that they cry out to You for help. Please provide for their needs.
I ask for a good travel situation for Jo. May she always feel Your divine protection surrounding her. May she know fully the peace and love You have specially designed to fill the contours of her big heart.
Thank You for caring for the homeschoolers. I pray for good lessons that bring learning for the parents as well as the children. May the children be enthusiastic in completing their work with minimum struggles and balking.
You are so good, Father God, to give us another day to draw close to You. May we not neglect that most important choice. Bless each of us with fruitful lives that glorify You. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen

Prayers for my friend Norma who’s having 2 teeth pulled today. I believe the oral surgery was scheduled for late morning our time, which is around now. She’s been worried about it and has just been so tired after all the cancer stuff she’s gone through in the past 6+ months. This was just “one more thing.”
And prayers for my flu to be gone. I put in a request this morning for a prescription cough medicine, last night was miserable, my back & chest ache from all the deep coughing and my throat is raw. My doctor also is faxing over a note so I can (if needed, which is likely) stay home through tomorrow, too.
Blech.

Guess my doctor called in some Tamaflu also, anyone have any first-hand experience with that? I heard that it can cause nausea and vomiting which to me is just making you sicker … but the office person I spoke with said she and her 10 year old took it and didn’t have any of those symptoms, though she said everyone’s different.
I’m 3 days into this but I guess since I still have symptoms they thought I should give it a shot.
I don’t think this year’s flu shot (which I didn’t get, I don’t usually get flu shots) would have made a difference since it was so far off the mark, but I may go ahead and start getting the annual shots if they seem like they’re close enough to whatever strain is going around that year.

Everyone I know who has taken Tamaflu swears by it. Take it!

Three of the four adults in our household had the flu over Christmas (confirmed by cultures at the walk-in clinic). We all got Tamaflu and it worked great (no side effects). It was a little pricey, thought – around $140 IIRC.
