Prayer Requests 1-7-15

Anyone have a request or praise they’d like to share?

And it’s Wednesday, so don’t forget to pray for the folks in Gambia.

Psalm 25

¹Unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.

O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.

Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.

Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths.

Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

Remember, O Lord, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.

Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness’ sake, O Lord.

Good and upright is the Lord: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.

The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.

10 All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.

11 For thy name’s sake, O Lord, pardon mine iniquity; for it is great.

12 What man is he that feareth the Lord? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.

13 His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth.

14 The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.

15 Mine eyes are ever toward the Lord; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.

16 Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted.

17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses.

18 Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins.

19 Consider mine enemies; for they are many; and they hate me with cruel hatred.

20 O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee.

21 Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.

22 Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.

  1. Interesting to see in the last line of that Psalm how Israel is referred to in the masculine sense.

I really like a lot of the thoughts expressed in that Psalm. Thank you, AJ, for posting this prayer and Psalm reading page daily.

  2. Prayer for husband today as he and a couple others take the fledgling seventeen year old to meet his sister over by Seattle. Should be about ten hours of driving and husband is pretty stiff and sore. And prayer for fledgling to successfully fledge. Thanks.

  3. Heavenly Father,

Thank You for showing Your power through the weather. Thank You for Your provision of warmth when many would freeze to death without coats, blankets, mittens and warm buildings.

Lord, I ask You to bless those in Gambia who are needy today…spiritually, emotionally, physically, or in other ways that only You know of. Please encourage the missionaries there and keep all safe during times of political unrest.

Abba, please encourage Jo to see the beautiful tapestry You are weaving in her life. She only sees the back side, the loose ends and little knots of the moment. Please infuse her with joy in considering Your ability to do more than we can think or imagine.

I ask, Father God, that You would help 6 Arrows to find ways to combine more of her activities to accomplish all her goals. Help her refine her goals to match Your necessities and to remove the things that are just fluff and not important in the long run. We all have expectations of what we’d like to accomplish, but it is only through Your working Your goodness out in our lives that we get anything done. A seeming little bit done in Your way has lasting impact that a lot done on our own never will.

Thank You for watching over Idaho Mike and the fledgling. Give them safety, stamina, and relief from hurting whether physical or emotional. Thank You for growth and maturity in the young and proof that efforts made to bring the young along in Your world can revive lives that have been counted as good for nothing because they have been so damaged. Thank You for newness of life known only through Jesus.

I pray for traveling mercies for all who are out on the roads during this cold snap. Please do not let any be stranded.

    In Jesus’ name, Amen

P.S. Thanks for the settling down of the “Grems,” at least for this moment.

  4. Jim is still alive. He coded Monday night when they tried to wean him off ventilator, so he’s back on for awhile. He’s in a hospital two hours away because all the hospitals closer were full. It’s been a tough winter and this flu, apparently, is taking a heavy toll.

Wisdom for us. We’re thinking/praying about inviting our dear 96 year-old friend to move in with us. Never married, Jo’s money is shrinking and she’s about to stop treatment for “wet” cataracts and go blind because the monthly shots are so expensive.

Engaging and lively, she still has plenty to offer. I can’t bear the thought I have a large empty bedroom that might enable her to afford miserable shots so she won’t go blind.

  5. There’s been a certain stronghold in my life the last few years that when I’m “triggered” (for lack of a better word), I invariably engage in wrong thinking about the matter. I know my thinking is a gross distortion of the truth, but I plummet into the depths every time it happens, which isn’t often, thankfully, but is troubling nonetheless.

The “trigger” came again about an hour ago, and, if history is any indication, I’ll be battling myself again for days or longer about my overreaction to what is really a non-problem.

Prayers for right thinking, instead of wrong thinking and beating myself up for wrong thinking.

  6. I found out today that my friend Karen had to have their other cat put to sleep while we were at Hilton Head. 😦 Their other cat died a few months ago. She and her husband are very sad about it. Prayers for comfort, please.
