  1. 😦 Christmas (Santa) commercials on TV already.

🙂 Gas prices. Oversupply. Some time ago, I ran an inflation index on gas prices. I used 1957 as a baseline. According to that, $3.35 is about the right price. I never complain if it’s not much above that. $2.889 is cheap for gasoline in Hendersonville.

😦 I saw on FoxNews last night that Muslims and Christians were holding a joint prayer meeting at the Washington Cathedral. We are NOT praying to the same God.
I’ve never heard of Jews praying at the Washington Cathedral.

😦 For some reason, I’m developing a real antipathy for the guy who says phone numbers on TV. I know he’s somebody’s dad, but I still don’t like him.

🙂 Miss Bosley cuddles on a cold day.

🙂 Christmas Moments book releasing soon.

😦 Election yard signs still up in some yards for the losers

🙂 Glad that we have no more election commercials

🙂 Still thanking God for the election results

😦 My friend, Karen, still suffers

😦 We have to find new health insurance coverage FAST.

  3. Janice, Hendersonville has an ordinance that requires signs to be removed within two days of the election. Applies only to public property. A yard sign can stay forever, but most of the signs come down within a week.
I don’t know what the penalty is. But the culprit is obvious because his name is on the sign.

  4. Janice- There was still a huge Ron Paul ’08 sign on a barn along the highway near here in 2012, so the owner of the barn painted over the 08 and put 12. It came down a few months after the 2012 election.

  5. 😐 Too cold too soon, but who am I to question God’s weather choice.

🙂 Gas at $2.759 here, and $2.699 at a station in Hannibal where I go frequently.

    🙂 Thanksgiving two weeks away!

  6. 🙂 My long, difficult week is past, a better week is ahead (I hope).

😦 🙂 Waiting for God’s answer to my husband’s current situation with his route, & all that it entails.

🙂 😦 A very sweet grandson with some serious issues (due to his parents’ situation).

    🙂 But God…

  7. But God indeed.

Chas, why do you hate Christmas?

🙂 Saturday — but a busy one with a 2-hour drought-tolerant plant workshop (hoping to get workable ideas for my outdoor spaces) and then a visit 40 minutes up the freeway to my friend who’s now in a new (farther way) assisted living facility.

🙂 Got a good start on a cold-case crime work project, pure serendipity in connecting with people. Or maybe it was a “But God” explanation (aren’t they all, really?) — I did pray for openings to stories & families that he would have me write about.

🙂 I have the best dogs ever. (Although Tess had Annie down on her back in the kitchen yesterday morning, scared me something awful — Annie was kicking at her but Tess wouldn’t let her up until I spotted them and called her off; Annie is generally cautious of Tess, but hasn’t figured out that it’s especially necessary to avoid walking anywhere near that dog in the kitchen around meal times.)

😦 A lot on my plate over the next couple months, at work but also in my spare time with vet visits, dog grooming, my own doctors/dentist appts, all now overdue.

🙂 But my Christmas lights are up! 🙂

  8. 🙂 Decorating early for Christmas, using a baby shower for an excuse!

🙂 Friends who give great ideas and input

😦 Husband is not home to get my decorating stuff out of the shop – I’ll have to do it myself in this cold

🙂 I need to check on the cats tomorrow anyways

    🙂 Shopping tomorrow!!

  9. 🙂 We attended a community play involving our youngest daughter. It was a trial featuring many different fairy tale characters. It was held in the historic city hall in town and had us going from room to room. It was fun to see the building from the inside and not just the outside as we pass by.

🙂 Three of our grandsons (daughter’s sons) went with us. They had gone the evening before to a dress rehearsal, but loved it so much they wanted to attend again. The play has two different tracks. Attendees only get to choose one. The guilty party changes according to the questions asked by attendees. There is a surprise video that solves the crime. Actually there are four different video and whomever each audience chooses is the one used. Lots of clues are given out. The boys asked some good questions and pointed out some of the clues. Even the five year old contributed.

🙂 They all got to come swimming at our hotel, too. I had fun playing with their little sister, too. Grandchildren are truly such a joy.

😦 Oh, boy! Was it cold. We were grateful this was not held outside as was the one my SIL was acting in last November. With temps in the teens, that would have been way too cold.

🙂 My dad was back home and feeling good enough to argue. He also was pushing his homemade brownies and fudge. (Well, homemade from a box.) Still, pretty good for someone who was in the hospital just days before. He told me he just took a little vacation. He said he can order the food he likes and rest all day. Sure. Vacation. I am sure he would have preferred to attend the dinner theater that was in the plans for the day he went into the hospital.

  10. 🙂 Nice time out with my friend although I’m not particularly impressed with the new facility she’s in and she told me her roommate is difficult, talks out loud to herself a lot — apparently a lot of the residents in this place have mental issues.

😦 Ran into several bumper-to-bumper freeway stretches on the way home as I was close to being completely out of gas. Finally made it home and got to the cheap gas station in town, but there was a line …

😦 Got home too late to get to the dog park. This new place my friend is in is a bit farther away than her old one, it takes 3 freeways to get out there, and the one-way trip is about 45 minutes (with no traffic) — more than an hour (as I discovered) with traffic. 😦

🙂 They were playing Christmas music in the Polly’s Pies restaurant we went to. Drove by one house that was really in a holiday mess, they had Halloween AND Christmas decorations out front. The transition period I guess.

😦 Frustrating experience participating on a couple of local coyote FB threads in the past few days. Some people are simply stuck in the whole “They were here first,” “We need to learn to share with all beings,” La-de-da, can’t we all just get along mindset. Too many Disney movies, not enough scientific reading and basic clear thinking about what is a real conflict that is growing in cities across the country. More and more coyotes are settling in cities and having litter after litter. In a few years it’s going to be more serious.

Same thing is happening in many areas, saw this news story a couple days ago from Washington state:

” … Cleland with USDA Wildlife Services confirms there has been a huge upswing in the coyote population here in Western Washington over the last 10 years. Especially, during this time of year, young coyotes are out and about trying to detach from their parents. Cleland says coyotes are incredibly adaptable and can survive in cities because of all the shelter and sources of food, including pet food and compost. …”

I’m not saying there’s an easy answer, there isn’t. But to just deny this is even an issue that needs to be acknowledged and (somehow) dealt with (besides saying everyone needs to just stay in their houses with their pets 24/7) is nuts.

  11. 🙂 I survived. We got to stand inside the gymnasium entrance to keep warm and stepped out whenever a car pulled up. And it wasn’t as cold as predicted. Plus, the snow didn’t materialize until the third quarter of the game.

    🙂 And our team won!

🙂 And Arizona won! (I actually got to see part of the game on TV!)

  12. I paid $3.10 — occasionally I’ve seen it recently for $2.99 bur rarely.

Still, compared to $4.00+ (I think it was as high as $4.20-$4.30 at some points in the past few years), it’s a great relief.

  13. In contrast to everyone else on the blog, we like it when gas prices are up…It means more work for hubby, which means more commissions (he earns a small salary, but makes most of our money on commission). He’s in Industrial Distribution for the oil and gas industry. When prices fall, companies pull back on projects…
