My friend Norma from church has what is supposed to be a final test Friday morning before doctors decide how to proceed (and whether or not to go forward with a major surgery) on removing 2 masses in her abdomen.
The test tomorrow is an endoscopy, they’re trying to make sure they haven’t missed a cancerous mass somewhere — the masses already found are sarcomas, which are typically just byproducts of a cancer somewhere else, but no primary cancer can be found so far (she’s had numerous scans already).
She’s nervous & is becoming just flat-out weary of all the poking and probing and testing. She seems discouraged. Pray that this test goes smoothly (she’ll be put under for it) with few after-affects — and that if anything is found, it’s treatable by the surgery they’re already tentatively planning to do.
Donna – In her latter years, my mom had various health problems, including a couple surgeries with difficult recoveries, & then battled (& eventually succumbed to) ovarian cancer. She grew so very weary of doctors’ appointments & tests.
Ugh…I do so hate that feeling Kim…even though it usually causes me to press in more towards trusting and leaning upon the Lord…which is always a good thing…praying for you this day.
We learned our son was laid off from his job today…he asked us to pray for him…which is a good thing….praying this will draw him close to the Savior…he is being shaken a bit….waiting upon the Lord to see His plan unfold ❤
Re: letting old things go. My great friend, Marilyn, whom I also consider to be my spiritual mentor, recently wrote about how God helped her to forgive some people (district leaders in our denomination) who treated her husband (my former pastor) very badly. She wrote that forgiveness is like “…this slippery eel that you cannot get your hand around and grip!”
I should probably clarify that by “letting old things go” I’m referring to choices I’ve made in the past that keep coming to mind, done deals that I don’t need to persistently rehash. They’re not things for which I need to ask or offer forgiveness; the thoughts don’t need to be acted upon in any way, other than to be dismissed. My brain doesn’t let me do that very easily, unfortunately.
It’s worn me out today, and I have been quite worthless as far as getting anything worthwhile accomplished. 😦
Please pray for wisdom for those in leadership here. There are things going on and they need to take action. I just read about some of what they are planning to do. It will not be popular, but the actions are needed. A time of testing for us all.
They are talking about closing the market, so that would mean no fresh fruit and vegetables unless we drive 5 miles and very few have cars. But, actions have consequences…
You care for us, and love us as no other. You know all our concerns, fears, motivations, weights we carry over past bad decisions, pressures from work overloads, hurts from inconsiderate and sometimes purely mean people, devastations from injury and disease…You know completely the human condition. Thank You that Jesus came down to earth to experience the good, the bad and the ugly. Thank You for His friendship, and family relationship on top of being the One who saved us. I ask for Your actions to be speedy in bringing remedies in the situations mentioned here. You have the means and ways to remedy each hurting and afflicted person. You have wisdom to give to those who ask. Please give wisdom to Jo’s admin staff. Hepl them resolve issues in the best and safest way.
Thank You for being there among the needy. Thank You for never abandoning Your children. May You hear a chorus of praise and thanksgiving for I know all You do is good. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen
I have a weird feeling this morning…as if I am waiting on the other shoe to fall. I hate feeling this way.

That is an awful feeling, Kim. Praying.

Praying for Kim, Norma, and NancyJill’s son.
Hubby is feeling better today. Thanks for the prayers.
Today it is my turn to not be feeling the greatest. The stress-related knot in my chest is back again. I’m having a hard time letting old things go.
Playing my music for the piano show (especially the Beethoven piece) is very therapeutic, but I can’t do that all day…

For anyone who finds classical music relaxing, this is the piece I referenced above.

Isn’t that the truth?

Maybe I need to forgive and/or accept myself.

I think we all need to “preach the gospel” to ourselves — daily. Some days are just hard.
So did Kim’s other shoe fall?
