Prayer Requests 6-17-14

Who has a request or a praise they’d like to share?

Psalm 143:1-11

¹Hear my prayer, O Lord, give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness.

And enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified.

For the enemy hath persecuted my soul; he hath smitten my life down to the ground; he hath made me to dwell in darkness, as those that have been long dead.

Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is desolate.

I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy works; I muse on the work of thy hands.

I stretch forth my hands unto thee: my soul thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty land. Selah.

Hear me speedily, O Lord: my spirit faileth: hide not thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit.

Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.

Deliver me, O Lord, from mine enemies: I flee unto thee to hide me.

10 Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.

11 Quicken me, O Lord, for thy name’s sake: for thy righteousness’ sake bring my soul out of trouble.

  1. Um, how did clicking on the daily thread open up the prayer requests? Whoops. Well, I might as well give a prayer request.

Our family has made a choice to do something quite opposite to the way my husband’s sister did that same thing–neither one is a sinful choice, but she and her husband believe that our choice is sinful, and also that our doing it (or, rather, allowing a grown daughter to do it) is a direct insult to her. Trying to communicate our biblical freedom in the matter (while also affirming her own different choice) has apparently led to a greater feeling of “hurt feelings.” We have several family events later this month, and it would be great if they can let it go before then.

  2. In addition, this is a very important week for our denomination, the PCA. It’s our general assembly, the week that elders gather from all over the country to discuss things, learn, and vote on matters brought before them. The PCA currently is facing several theological threats, and quite a few of the more conservative churches could well leave the denomination if the liberal element has managed to stack the deck for “business continuing as usual.” (A couple of heretic pastors have been exonerated, for example, because of the way the “trial” process works, and a lot of elders would like the appeals process to be changed, so there are resolutions to that effect.)

  3. I have a similar situation to Cheryl’s with a family member and would appreciate prayer. This has caused a lot of stress for me. The good thing is that it brings me to prayer. It is wearing year after year and affects others around me in a negative way, as well. Please pray I do not sin, but react with self-control and kindness. Also, that my relative would come to see what the Lord really desires and has the relationship needed there.

  4. I am sorry Cheryl and Kathaleena. I do not understand why someone would be offended if you chose to do something in a different way than I do. I prefer to clean with Lysol, you may prefer to clean with vinegar and baking soda. That doesn’t mean you insult me when you use natural cleaners.
Some people can just be too legalistic and sometimes you have to walk away and say, “I know I am right, but now it is between them and God.”

  5. I am talking about an ongoing situation that is much deeper than that, Kim. Walking away is not a possibility, nor do I believe it is the right thing to do at this point. Maybe never.

  6. So true, kare—and He knows what we need to grow us to maturity. That does not mean it is pleasant. Thank you for your prayers.
