Prayer Requests 3-20-14

Anyone have a request or praise to share today?

Last week someone (Michelle I think?) suggested praying for other missionaries amongst us, as well as for those in The Gambia. I think that’s a fine idea.

So today I’d like to ask everyone to pray for Jo and the other missionaries in Papua New Guinea. (PNG)

Psalm 55:1-17

¹Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication.

Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise;

Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me.

My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.

Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me.

And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.

Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah.

I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest.

Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues: for I have seen violence and strife in the city.

10 Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it.

11 Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets.

12 For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:

13 But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.

14 We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.

15 Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them.

16 As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me.

17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.

  1. Please pray for my oldest daughter (2nd Arrow). She has had a very hard week. It’s spring break week, which is the week she planned on moving most of her stuff to the new place she’ll be living in a few weeks when she starts her internship. (The new location is close to 5 hours away from her present location.) She and hubby were going to move things on Tuesday, but one of her cats had fallen very ill recently, so she took Tuesday to get the cat checked out. Cancer.

Last night, when she got back home after work, she found the cat had died. We got a phone call last night after 11:00 pm with one very sad young woman. (You may recall another one of her cats died last year around Christmas time. So this is two now in less than three months, the two she had had the longest, almost her whole childhood. This one was one year younger than the one that died a few months ago, and she’d had both of them since they were kittens.)

Please pray for her comfort. Also, for her safety on the road today. This is really the only day she has left this week to move her stuff, as her work schedule won’t permit it the rest of the week, and she starts back to school Monday. She’ll be driving approximately 1 1/2 hours to meet my husband, and I’m guessing she didn’t get much sleep last night. (I know I didn’t, knowing all she’s dealing with.)

Please pray also that her stress levels will go down as much as possible. She’s got finals coming up before she finishes her schooling April 4. With that, the two recent deaths of beloved pets, and a big move to an unfamiliar location to start a new aspect of her education — the internship — she has a huge amount of stressors right now.

    Thank you, all.

  2. If you think of me, I’m about to start writing the scene that’s the heart of the novel: facing death and asking what you truly believe about who God is and what heaven is like. I’ve danced around it for days, but it’s up and I need to do it. Thanks.

  3. Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being ever close enough that we can reach out to You through Jesus and know without any doubt that You are there and glad to hear from us. We carry many concerns that weigh heavy and Jesus helps us to tote the burden to Youf thfone room.

Lord, once again I ask that we can make it through another tedious tax season. All the stress does get old.

I pray for You to bless missionaries in PNG and Jo in particular. Continue to keep her safe and abiding in Jesus. May her joy be overflowing so much that others desire to be near her to catch some joy.

Abba, Your care and protection is reauested for 6 Arrows daughter. She has so much to learn. Help her to feel at home real soon. Please give travel mercies to 6 Arrow’s daughter and help her with dealing with her new schedule. May she fit in with the group of peers without any challenges. May she feel You as the wind beneath her wings as she ventures outward.

I pray for Michelle to have good ideas and inspiration. Thank You for how You keep things in perspective. Help her to always have an eternal perspective to help in her decision making.

    In Jesus’ name,
    Amen
