Prayer Requests 1-21-14

Anyone have a request or praise to share?

Psalm 2

¹Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?

The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying,

Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.

Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.

I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.

10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.

11 Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

  1. The teenage daughter of a blogger I read occasionally is in need of prayers. She broke two bones in her leg in a bad ice skating accident this weekend. She is scheduled for surgery on Thursday. More information can be found here (there are three posts so far, starting with “The FYG Needs Prayers” [FYG stands for Fine Young Girl — they don’t use their real names on the blog. HM and DHM refer to the dad and mom, respectively, of the FYG]):

  2. I should warn you that at the above link, there are pictures (X-ray and otherwise), and some fairly graphic descriptions of what she’s gone through. You might want to avoid going there if you’d rather do without the specifics.

My apologies to anyone who has already clicked over there and found it to be too much.

  3. Heavenly Father,

The day is dwindling with not a lot of light given all our clouds. It truly seems like winter here today. Thank You for warmth. I pray for those who are homeless in this cold weather. Help them wherever they are. Some may be living in cars, abandoned buildings or under bridges to stay out of the wind chill factor. Please give them warmth that releases from Your supernatural provision.

I ask that You be with FYG and her family as they are dealing with her pain and need for surgery. Help them to realize how much You care for them even as they don’t understand why this had to happen. Help the parents to be strong and united in their support of their daughter and each other during this difficult time. May all go well with the surgery and recovery. Please, no scares or incidences to further test this fsmily. This is their time of trouble and I call on You to be their ready help meeting all needs that arise. In Jesus’ name, Amen

  5. Sorry to hear your husband is so ill, Kim. I saw on the news last night that the flu this year is really a bad experience. A doctor who is a Sunday School teacher has just recovered from it.

Heavenly Father, please keep Kim well and feeling strong as she helps her husband back to wellness. I pray for him to feel strong enough to go to the doc tomorrow. I pray his fever will effectively battle the virus in his body. I pray for Kim’s husband to not feel blue over his affliction and how it zaps his strength. May he lean on you as he deals with any pains and discomfort. Thank You for Your excellent care. In Jesus’ name, Amen

  6. Heavenly Father,

I ask that You would infuse Jo this day with focus, clarity of purpose, creativity, patience, goodnees, kindness, and all fruits of the spirit. Give her a second wind for the lengthened school day. Bless her with good ways to help new children adjust. I pray for all the children in her class that they will have a joy for learning and look forward to being engaged by Jo’s instruction day by day.
