Praying for rain in California. The sky is overcast, but we’re not expected to get more than a sprinkling if that.
A city north of us already is limiting residents to 150 gallons of water per household. My husband and I can manage, but not my son and his family in our former home.
My dad can use prayers. He is not feeling well again and has a lot of pain right now. He is in the ER as I am typing. He had this before and was in the hospital. So far, no one has been able to do much.
Yes, Donna. I heard it will be anti-biotics. Not sure the cookies I baked him as a special birthday treat is the best thing for him. He has a terrible sweet tooth, though, and at his age he isn’t going to worry about the one vice he has left.
My child has stuck another dart in my Mommy Heart. She doesn’t have school tomorrow and her dad has to be at work early to do a bid. I asked her to come spend the night with me tonight, she could sleep late, and we would do something tomorrow. She sent me a text telling me she has made plans with her Nana.
Do I give up asking so that I won’t hurt? Do I keep asking so she will know I didn’t give up?
Don’t give up asking, Kim! Prepare yourself for the possible hurt, but don’t stop asking her.
One thing I noted is that she already had plans with her Nana, so she didn’t necessarily reject your offer out of hand. Maybe her Nana asked her earlier in the week. Just a thought.
I am with Karen–Don’t give up. You will be amazed how your relationship can change over time. Teen girls are like alcohol and drug issues with your loved ones–best to not take some stuff personally. I know that is hard, but nevertheless, it is true.
I agree that you don’t give up. My kids this last month have really honored me. It took a while to get here, but it is amazing.
Also I gave my friends that I am staying with some money, just because. Well, two days ago they gave it all back in a birthday card and said enjoy!. Well, I had already given that money away so I knew that it wasn’t for me. And this week I met someone who has been out of work for a while. So today I gave them a special handshake and left the money in their hand. That was fun to do. Then I went and spoke in our oldest Sunday school class. Very sweet folks. When I left, three people gave me money, I ended up with more then I gave away! You just can’t outgive God.
Yes, Kim, keep asking. (I put a whole story in here, but realized that it wasn’t very relevant – sorry)
So, Kim, keep asking and asking and asking and try (virtually impossible, I know) not to take it personally as she is a teenager and it will take a while for her to realize and be grateful for how much you love her.
And, of course, viewpoint changes when you have your OWN teen. 🙂 Just a good reminder for prayer, prayer, prayer and grace toward one another. It ain’t easy, though. 😉

It sounds like gall stones and a urinary tract infection for my dad. I am sure it is a relief to find they seem to know this time.

Kathaleena, that’s good news, sounds like something fairly easy to treat. Praying he bounces back quickly.

Teenage girls seem to have a different vision of reality, too. Mine claimed, “you never went to ANY of my volleyball games.”
I’d had enough.
:”Name one I missed.”
She couldn’t do it, but sputtered along, “well, you were always reading or talking to the other mothers.”
You just can’t win. She has a better memory now. 🙂
