Prayer Requests 1-4-14

Who would like to share a request or praise today?

Psalm 136:1-9

¹O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever.

O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever.

To him who alone doeth great wonders: for his mercy endureth for ever.

To him that by wisdom made the heavens: for his mercy endureth for ever.

To him that stretched out the earth above the waters: for his mercy endureth for ever.

To him that made great lights: for his mercy endureth for ever:

The sun to rule by day: for his mercy endureth for ever:

The moon and stars to rule by night: for his mercy endureth for ever.

  1. Prayer for son as he enters into this commitment. Today is just orientation but prayer that solid people are running it and he will see them, and he will make friendships that will help him as well as the other boys. Prayer that any Christians involved with stand out for their good character and be a light to these children.

  2. Diego woke himself up from the induced coma and tried to remove the tubes. He stayed awake and held his own for seven hours until they put him back into a coma.

  3. Please pray for my wife (British citizen) and I as we will travel across the border to Mexico on Monday to renew her visa (multiple-entry, six months at a time). Thank you.

  4. Would appreciate prayer for my local family in this upcoming storm. It sounds like a real doozy–about a foot of snow combined with high winds, with the high on Monday (after the snow has finished) in the minus numbers. Well, we have family members who are elderly and/or with health issues, and they need wisdom not to even try to tackle it, plus some who are having to work during the storm (including shoveling snow at work).

And my sister in Alabama is having a really hard time keeping the house warm enough. They don’t have a furnace, were trying to use fireplace only for heating, but they’ve added a couple space heaters and are still barely keeping up with it. And it’s supposed to get colder. As much as anything, I think she just feels burdened by it. Last year it wouldn’t have been her “worry,” and this year it is.

  5. Stay safe, Cheryl — praying for you and, especially, for your sister without a furnace (or a husband this winter). 😦

For you ‘all’ in the north and across the plains, this sounds like a very bad ‘vortex.’

    Global warming, indeed.

    Bundle up, stay indoors.

  6. It seems that my daughter, who fights me tooth and nail about getting up on Sundays and going to church with me has no problems going to a non-denominational church with her friends. On the one hand I am very thankful that she will go to church with them but on the other it seems I have abdicated one more of my parental duties.
I sit here in tears because I just sent her a message asking if she was ready for me to come get her. She messaged back that she thought she was going home. (That means her dad’s house. ) She no longer considers my house her home. Just one more stab in the heart

  7. {{{Hugs}}}, Kim.

I know cyberhugs don’t do much, but I hope the sentiment helps. My heart goes out to you, & I’ll pray for you.

  8. Praying for you, Kim. Please know that you have not abdicated your parental duties in the matter of BG’s churchgoing. You have continued to try getting her up for church. You are modeling the importance of that, and have not given up. It is good that you are seeing what’s positive in this — that she IS continuing to go to church, and has not abandoned it.

God will work things out. The relationship you have with Him is serving as a model for your daughter. Some day, in some way, that will bear fruit according to God’s divine purpose. He will see both of you through.

  9. Praying for all the needs mentioned on this thread. Karen, I’ll keep you in my prayers, too, regarding what you mentioned on Rants & Raves, with your tenants.
