4 For the Lord hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure.
I am reading Genesis now, There is no reason for God to choose Jacob. He was not a good guy on the order of Abraham. Though Joseph was. None of his brothers were good guys.
God just chose Jacob. That’s all.
I believe that promise still stands. God will protect Israel, though she be surrounded by enemies. We are witnessing the fulfillment of scripture now.
I know this is a prayer thread, and I’m talking politics.
But you started it. !! 😉
I would like to ask for prayer for my dear sweet husband. I have told you that the back fusion is considered a failure. He is in constant pain but never complains, until last night. He said something about living the rest of his life in pain. He was really down. He almost never is a Negative Nabob and he was quite negative last night.
Kim, I’m so sorry — is there something they can do to “fix” it? Praying for a wise doctor and a way forward to ease the pain. I have a friend who had the fusion done and it’s worked well for her, got her back into her classroom (she’s a public school teacher) and says any pain, for the most part, his gone.
I’ve heard that back surgery success rates vary widely.
Please continue to pray for my artist friend, D, who I found out this week is undergoing intensive treatment in a hospital for late-stage pancreatic cancer. It doesn’t seem to be looking hopeful and I believe the treatments have been stopped. Pray for her most of all to know Christ, and for comfort & ease of pain. I’m not in her close circle, but have known and written about her here and there for about 10 years, she’s talented & has always been so generous to so many, including me.
Sometimes surgery is needed — my friend was out of work for about a year, laid up and then in a wheelchair for part of it. Now she’s back to her normal, active self.
I think he didn’t take enough time to recover. I am worried about him. It seems he has just realized that he is in pain and accepting that —not denying it. I think he has been in denial, thinking things would get better, but we are coming up on a year and it isn’t better.
New sixteen year old always gives gifts on her birthday. She made the little ones some cute little capes to wear. I was given a book of God’s Wisdom for Mothers. Should be very helpful. Lots of other fun things as well. I gave her a couple of books and a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. It is a good day.
Artist friend died this morning, lots of people very sad. Apparently unexpected complications set in as she was receiving treatments at an area hospital so while she’d been battling cancer for a while, the end came swiftly and, in that sense, somewhat unexpectedly. Pray for comfort for her family and friends.
No kids that I’m aware of and she’d been divorced for some time, but she was close to her brother and nieces/nephews. Many in our town knew her and everyone had seen her work (which focused on local scenes and people).
Last Christmas (2012) I called her to ask her advice on the best glue to use in fixing a broken ceramic candle sconce. She told me to come by the studio so she could look at it and, of course, she wound up fixing it for me and refused to take any money. We had a good visit and I think that may have been when she told me she had been diagnosed with cancer. She loved golden retrievers (I did a story on her exhibit of goldens a couple years ago, with sale proceeds going to a rescue group). She always had a golden, she got her dogs from a breeder in the Pacific Northwest, and I’m guessing the family will take her current dog.
Just sad, she was talented and kind and generous. A big loss for the community and a lot of her many friends and acquaintances and fans.

I would go to a chiropractor before I let someone cut on me.
For me, knives are the last resort.

Oh Donna, I’m sorry to hear that. Did she have a husband and kids?
