Prayer Requests 12-31-13

Who would like to share a request or praise?

Psalm 128

¹Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord; that walketh in his ways.

For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.

Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table.

Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the Lord.

The Lord shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life.

Yea, thou shalt see thy children’s children, and peace upon Israel.

  1. Cold is definitely worse. Glad to have the seventeen year old and six and seven to do chores. It is just the twelves that are having challenges. The twelve girl used to be able to do chores, but she is trying to follow in the footsteps of twelve boy.

  2. Still trying to find my friend, A, with Parkinson’s — his neighbor told me he’d been taken to a hospital a couple weeks ago (but neighbor didn’t speak much English, I don’t speak much Spanish, and we didn’t get beyond that bit information).

I called another friend of A’s, an attorney who had been helping him out with some things, who was going to check today to see if he had A’s sister’s number or another family contact in his files. I’ve called the hospitals where he likely was initially taken (but no longer seems to be an active patient), but with the new privacy laws they can’t tell you anything, even something basic like his whereabouts if he’s in a rehab somewhere. I just keep getting that “we can’t confirm or deny” response. So aggravating.

  3. My husband mentored a man, RB, in a series of unusual meetings several years ago. Such a fundamentalist legalist, this guy divorced his wife because she didn’t behave “Christian enough.” The kids, and the wife, were a mess after this rejection

My husband met RB after that and counseled him through Watchman Nee’s “Sit, Walk, Stand,” and watched his life transform. The man seemed to have made peace and found grace and my husband never saw him again.

That was okay, my husband felt the ministry time was done.

Today we read in the paper RB’s 22 year-old-son had become a transient and was stabbed to death in an alley behind the library on Christmas day. The murderer, another homeless guy, was picked up immediately. The funeral is in an hour.

As a parent and a sinner, I don’t know where to put the emotions RB must be going through. He’s a flawed brother in Christ, who is even more broken now, I imagine. If you think of RB, please pray for him, his ex-wife and the remaining child. Thanks.

  4. Michelle, will you or your family be attending the funeral?

I prayed for them earlier. When my sister lost her husband earlier this year, she said several times that at least her loss was “clean”; it wasn’t being deserted or rejected by the man who promised to love her! They can keep their good memories, there are no custody battles involved, and people aren’t questioning whether it was somehow partly her fault. How much worse it would be to live through divorce!
