Prayer Request 12-23-13

Anyone have a request or praise to share?

Luke 2:1-20

1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.

(And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)

And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.

16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.

18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.

19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

  1. Well, all the Christmas outreaches are done. We started with a men’s party for the mission compound men employees. Then we had the huge one in a neighboring village yesterday. Today was the one for the women who work in the missionary houses. All three were good. Today’s was a bit disappointing because of some disruption by the small children and the fact that many of the ladies had to leave before the end of the Magdalena video. I just remind myself that God can cause them to remember and to ask questions even if they didn’t see the whole thing. And as far as disruptions go, they are undoubtedly more bothersome to me than to them. They hear everything, even in the midst of chaos.

  2. Pray for Sarah, one of the missionaries. She has been on educational leave for four months and is supposed to be flying out the day after Christmas to return here. She lives in Michigan. Pray that bad weather doesn’t interfere with any of her flights. Also pray for Barney. He is leaving here tonight and flying to South Carolina. His wife’s mother is failing. His wife flew home a couple weeks ago and he is joining the family for Christmas. It could be a very sad one for them.

  3. Forrest was helping Emily cut up some squash. He was doing it the way she told him to (to put his other hand on top of the blade & push down), but when she turned away for a few seconds, he got another idea.

So, he has a slice on the top of one his fingers. Emily wrapped it up in gauze & “coach’s tape”. But since a three-year-old boy is not one to sit quietly, his continuing boisterous (or maybe that should be “boysterous” 😉 ) activity made it keep opening up & bleeding.

He is sleeping now, so please pray it will begin to heal nicely through the night, & that it won’t get infected. Thank you.

  4. Prayers, I’ve been drawn into a discussion with a FB friend who (I guess) considers himself a Christian but does not have a biblical understanding when it comes to social issues, esp gay marriage. Didn’t mean to go there, but there I am. Oy.
