Prayer Requests 12-10-13

Anyone have a request or praise to share?

Psalm 113

¹Praise ye the Lord. Praise, O ye servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord.

Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time forth and for evermore.

From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord’s name is to be praised.

The Lord is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens.

Who is like unto the Lord our God, who dwelleth on high,

Who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth!

He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill;

That he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people.

He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the Lord.

  1. Last week was quite a week for family health issues, and my brother-in-law is still in the hospital (last I heard) with several blood clots (lungs and one leg). The most likely (it seems to me) is the hip surgery he had a few months ago, but doctors are trying to determine the cause and resolve it. Obviously it’s potentially quite serious.

  2. They’re saying they don’t think it was the surgery, but don’t know the cause. I don’t know much about these things, except that it’s potentially very serious. Apparently they expect the treatment to be effective . . . but that doesn’t deal with whatever is causing the problem in the first place!

  3. I think I nearly lost one of my children once to CPS when I took him in for a bad rash. The doc decided it was scabies, the worst case he had ever seen. They looked at me very angrily and were very curt. Then another opinion was eczema, which is what he has, and they stopped being so angry.

  4. Oh Jo, that sounds miserable. Cheryl, praying they can resolve the entire issue without surgery. It’s a hard time (during the holidays) to be dealing with potentially serious family illnesses. 😦

Prayer, for those so inclined, for me & my dog Cowboy — he’s lost about 7 pounds since last year (I thought he was getting skinny). The vet said I may not be feeding him enough — or it could be a parasite issue so he ran some tests for that today. It potentially could be something more significant such as cancer, but I’m sure hoping not. We aren’t testing for that just yet.

He eats well, acts fine, plays and romps with the other dogs at the park.

  5. Well, they said we wouldn’t have internet but it still works 🙂

I need prayer tonight. My breathing problems have returned with a vengeance and I cannot sleep.

  6. Jo, praying you get answers quickly. I have been there and it is eczema, but I know it can be other things as well. Whatever, it is, I hope you can get help.

  7. Prayers for all of you.

Donna – From the way you have described Cowboy’s personality over the years, he has a special place in my heart. I hope he’ll be okay. How much does he weigh now?

  8. Cowboy today weighed in at 46.6 pounds — in February he weighed 53+, but I thought he was getting a little pudgy then. The more I think about it, I believe I actually did cut back on the kibble — from 1-1/2 cups a day to just 1 cup. So I’ve probably been unwittingly starving him.

The vet suggested 3/4 cup twice a day, so I added more kibble to his dinner tonight and will continue to do that. I think he probably should weigh maybe around 48-50 pounds.

Everyone loves Cowboy — and people always remark about his strange eyes.

  9. Donna, your winters aren’t like ours, but I have found Misten needs (and wants) more food in the winter. In the summer I feed her twice a day, about a cup each feeding, and sometimes she skips breakfast. As winter descends, I slowly increase it to a cup and a half at each feeding, and it’s rare indeed that she doesn’t want it.
