This is it. This is the week that decides who gets the big money BCS bowl games and who has to settle for a “Never-Heard-of-it” Bowl. I have selected the eight conference championship games for the week, as well as two Big 12 games that have significance for some of our regulars. The tie breaker will be the SEC game between Mizzou and Auburn. Choose well. Just remember- in that game you have to name the school, not just the mascot, because both teams are Tigers. Oh, and pick before Friday @ 7:00PM EST, since that is when the MAC game is. So, without further ado, here are your choices:
1. ACC- Duke vs Florida State
2. B1G- Ohio State vs Michigan State
3. PAC 12- #7 Stanford @ #11 Arizona State
4. MAC- Bowling Green vs Northern Illinois
5. SWAC- Southern vs Jackson State
6. MWC- Utah State @ #23 Fresno State
7. Big 12- Texas vs Baylor
8. Oklahoma vs Oklahoma State
9. Rice vs Marshall
10. SEC- Mizzou vs Auburn – TIE BREAKER: Guess the winner and the score.

Note to Peter,
There were only 9 games in your e-mail, so I added the Louis/Cinncy game to make it 10.

AJ- I guess I forgot I was going to include the Conference USA match between Rice and Marshall. Sorry about that, but I got distracted this morning when getting this sent. But that means the guesses need to be in before 7:30 tonight!
And for some reason I forget the rankings for Northern Illinois (undefeated and #14) and the Big 12 teams: Oklahoma #6, Baylor #9, Okla St. #17, Texas #25. Not that national rankings play as big a role in these games.
My picks:
1. Duke- Oh, why not?
2. OSU- I really don’t care on this one.
3. Stanford- Because I never want those Sun Devils to win the PAC-12 until Arizona does. Which probably means never, unfortunately.
4. Northern Illinois
5. Jackson State
6. Fresno State
7. Baylor- Too bad the Big 12 doesn’t have a championship game any more.
8. Okla St- Upset time in the Sooner State.
9. Marshall
10. MIZZOU-RAH!!! 31-28 Black and gold make a good color combination.

Here goes:
1 Florida State -I will be shocked if Duke wins this. I would like to see the Gamecocks meet the Seminoles in a bowl game.
2 Ohio State over Mich. St.
3 Arizona State over Stanford. Don’t know why.
4. Norther Ill. I guess.
5. Jackson State.
6 Fresno State
7 The Bears over the Longhorns
8 Oklahoma. But the Cowboys have been doing well this year.
9 Marshall over Rice. The Thundering Herd needs this.
10 I pick the Tigers.
OK, lets make it Auburn 24- Mizzou 21.

And we will have one last contest for this season when the Bowl Games start. And I mean the good ones, not the early ones that no one cares about.
What? We can’t pick the score of Army vs Navy next week? What’re you afraid of, AJ?

Everyone knows that Navy will beat Army. That hasn’t always been the case. I remember, but not the year, that USC beat Army. It was a big deal. In the 40’s and 50’s, beating Army was a big deal.
The year I’m talking about must have been 1954 or 55.

kbells- If both FSU and OSU lose, maybe that will get the NCAA to finally have a real playoff. Next year they are going to have a two round “play-off” of the top four teams after the bowl games are said and done. Or maybe one round with the top two.

So, Janice, you decided alphabetical wasn’t such a good idea?

Janice, when in doubt go for the team with the prettiest colors or the cutest Quarterback.

I should have checked this sooner. Kim never chose the MAC winner, but left both teams in her post. Also, she and kbells have the exact same tie breaker score. That won’t matter, because IBNO Jr was closest in that game. Whoever would have thought that there would be 101 points scored!
After 6 completed games, Janice is ahead with 4 correct. If Kim had chosen Bowling Green, she would also have 4.

I had hoped that the Mizzou Tigers would beat the Auburn Tigers because SC beat Mizzou.
But, it turns out that Auburn will play the Seminoles for the championship. Auburn will beat them.

And the winner is (unless I made a mistake again): KimH with 7 correct. INBO, INBO Jr and Janice all had 6. With 5 were Chas and Kbells. And AJ and I ar keeping the rest of you looking good with only 3 correct. Upsets did us in- either Duke not upsetting Florida State, and Michigan State beating Ohio State. Also the Northern Illinois game going to the underdog.
So Kim- enjoy your Virtual High Five!!!
