Peter’s Pack of Pickled Pigskin Picks- Week 11

It’s early, I know. But one of the featured games this week is Thursday night, a big battle in the ACC: Georgia Tech goes to Clemson. Several other big games in various conferences this week as well, as the season winds down to conference playoffs. So I tried to include as many conference “big games” as possible, including the Pillow Fight, which may decide the worst team in the Conference USA.

Oh, and for Mumsee, the Mountain West is represented by Boise State. So, here they are!

1. Georgia Tech @ #8 Clemson – ACC records: GT 5-2, 1st in Coastal division; Clemson 6-1, 2nd in Atlantic.

2. #25 Georgia @ #7 Auburn – SEC records: UG 4-2, 3rd in the East; AU 5-1 2nd in West.

3. #12 Oklahoma State @ #24 Texas – Big 12 records: OSU 5-1, 3rd; UT 6-0, 1st.

4. #16 Michigan State @ Nebraska – B1G 10 records: Both in the Legends division, MSU 5-0, 1st; Neb 4-1, 2nd.

5. Oregon State @ #19 Arizona State – PAC 12 records: OSU 4-2, 2nd in North; ASU 5-1, 1st in South.

6. Florida @ #10 South Carolina – SEC records: Both in East, Fla 3-4, 4th; SC 5-2, 2nd

7. Wyoming @ Boise State – MWC: This really will have no bearing on the conference, but Wyoming is 2-3, BSU 4-1, 2nd in the Mountain division.

8. South Alabama (3-5) @ Navy (5-4) – a non-conference matchup. It’s the only game involving a major military academy.

9. Pillow Fight: Florida International @ UTEP – Conference USA records: combined, 1-9 (conf), 2-16 overall.

10. Washington State @ Arizona PAC 12: Neither has a chance of winning their divisions, but it’s the tie breaker. So guess the score as well as the winner.

Open to all readers of this blog post regardless of regularity of visits here or familial ties herewith. Children, siblings and spouses are encouraged to participate.

  3. Chas’ expert analysis:

Clemson should beat the Yellow Jackets.
Auburn over Gerogia. Tigers again? You make it tough.
    Oklahoma State should beat Texas.
    Michigan State over Nebraska
Oregon State over Arizona State. I don’t know why.
Gamecocks should beat the Gators. A couple of mine are going down for the game.
Go Boise! That’s all I know. Mumsee says it, so it’s so.
    Navy over S. Alabama.
UTEP, the pwerhouse of the Rio Grande over Fla. Int.
    Washington State – 24/ Arizona – 21

  4. I did not copy Ricky! I didn’t even know what he posted until I went back to see what everyone else had done. We even have the same tiebreaker.
But that’s what happens when two genuises cogitate over the same thing.
If we win,I’ll give Ricky all my winnings.
Real generous at that sort of thing.

  5. Chas- Since Ricky was first, his tie breaker score will be the one that counts, unless you change yours. And UTEP a powerhouse? Did I miss something? They have always been a bad team.

    My picks:
Clemson- I’d still like to see them in the championship.
OSU- Have I said I don’t like Texas teams?
MSU- Can’t root for Cornhuskers, unless they play a Texas team. Or Notre Dame.
ASU- holding my nose. ASU is Arizona’s arch rival. But I have to go with reality.
SC- Because they are good this year.
    Boise- Go Broncos!
    Navy- Go Navy!
FIU- Because UTEP is in that state.
    Arizona 36-24

  6. Who won?
I almost got the Washington St. and Az St. scores right but the wrong teams.
    😆
    Gamecocks beat the Gators.
Barely. It was a tough game.
Next week, USC plays Coastal Carolina. Don’t laugh, Coastal is near the top of their league. Last time I looked they were 8-0. A team like that can be dangerous. Ask Michigan.

  7. NEWS FLASH: kbells wins with a perfect 10 again! Of course, Mr kbells probably thinks she’s a perfect 10 all the time, so it’s no news to him. I think she is the only repeat winner so far. I’ll have to check. But not now, as it’s less than 20 minutes to kickoff of the biggest NFL game this week: Kansas City (9-0) at Denver (8-1). Or should I say, the KC defense against Peyton Manning, as how well KC does against Manning will be the deciding factor in the game. Or, perhaps, the KC special teams might be the difference.

Anyway, this is a college football thread, not the major league professionals. Here is how the rest of us fared: Rickyweaver and Chas tied with 9 (and the same tiebreaker score); AJ, Tychicus and Inbutnotof had 8 (I would have if I had remembered to pick a winner in the Auburn game); IBNO Jr and I had 7; and Janice a respectable 5.

  8. Okay,so I’m wrong. I guess I could check to see if kbells is a repeat winner. No, her husband won once. And Kim got the first perfect 10, as well as Rickyweaver last week. But tychicus has repeated as winner.
